Neil Parker

Since my first year at Morrisville’s wood technology program it has been my goal to start my own shop. Two years ago, I decided to pursue my dreams.

Custom furniture is my main focus, I also make a wide range of cutting boards, bowls and Christmas ornaments.
Woodworking is a language I am fluent in, and a way to express myself. I love that each new project has endless possibilities and challenges, which keeps me learning and growing as an artist.

Entering my shop each day always feels like a breath of fresh air. At Gingerwoodworks we feel that wood has a life. As wood is transformed into something new, with it comes the soul of each craftsman who works on it. Because of this, each project varies and carries its own unique characteristics. No matter what the end product, each piece carries the passion of the craftsman and an endless dedication to quality.

Watecrolor Artist
Judy paints daily if she can and is rarely seen without her painting apron on and mop brush in hand. There isn’t a subject matter that she won’t paint, though landscapes, florals, and portraits are amongst her favorites. Another way of sharing the love of her medium is to teach. Helping beginners and more advanced students explore the world of watercolor inspires students and teacher alike. Judy teaches watercolor classes weekly at The Hamilton Center for the Arts in Hamilton, NY as well as online classes in the winter months. Sign up for her mailing list to receive her class schedules through her website.

Judy specializes in charming pet portraits that make a perfect gift for the animal lovers in your life. To purchase that special painting which speaks to you, her Cazenovia home studio is open by appointment.

Inspired at a young age by nature and the night sky, I find it fulfilling to create images that both speak to the heart and immortalize the beauty around us.

A customer recently said about a set of nature photos she purchased, “Absolutely gorgeous. When your spirit is captured in pictures."

While I am most inspired by the natural world I am also very concerned by our impact on it and I donate to the Environmental Defense Fund with profits from my business.

This year was a blast!  I got to paint two of the largest paintings I’ve ever created for a client, take numerous workshops, participate in the Art Trail for the 6th time AND I got to work on Siobhan Fallon Hogan’s newest movie in the art department - props & set decoration!
Commission paintings:  Do you like my artwork? I’ve always been inspired & motivated to create for others. This year I did nine commissions and can’t wait to do more in 2022.

My studio and paintings created in oil using the "Prismatic paletter"
Workshops: This year was another year of learning and painting using the “prismatic palette”. All of my water and newest tree paintings are inspired by this palette. This year was extra fabulous as I roped in a few fellow artists to learn this palette with me. Camaraderie in the arts in Cazenovia is alive and kicking!

Sixth Caz Art Trail:  Need I say more than Thank You to all in our community who make this happen! The Art Trail has been hugely successful since day one and only gets better every year.

During the Art Trail

Last but not least… McKenzie Houseman at 20 East asked to carry my greeting cards. They are beautiful, high quality cards that are perfect for gift giving or to keep for yourself.  Thank you McKenzie!
Happy Holidays to everyone! And thank you for supporting me & my art.

My studio located in the historic Atwell Mill, 132 Albany St in the village of Cazenovia.

Porcelain & stoneware functional pottery

Liz Lurie

studio potter and teacher
At CazArts
She has lectured and exhibited nationally and is published in Ceramics Monthly, Ceramics Technical, Studio Potter and the Log Book. Liz is co-coordinator for the Dallas Pottery Invitational in Dallas TX. She maintains  a showroom and teaches community classes in Chittenango, NY.
Central to my work is the desire to communicate a strong sense of muscular physicality, harmony and a quiet beauty which reveals itself slowly. I am interested in the subtle changes in form that happen over time; a slightly different angle, a lowering of volume, or an addition of an appendage. These nuanced variations give rise to the evolution of form.
I find deep satisfaction in working within the limits of function. For me, there is freedom in the structure that use provides. It is always my grounding starting point. There is directness to their intention as they fulfill their lives on counters, cupboards and dish racks.
It is my hope through form, texture, and color that my work might provide a moment of slowness, comfort and intrigue, giving nourishment whether they are empty or full.

eter  Beasecker
At CazArts
A Professor of Art teaching ceramics and graduate studies at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts,  Peter has taught workshops at over sixty universities/art centers and exhibited extensively in national and international venues.  His work is included in several museums and private collections, including the Smithsonian, Everson and Minneapolis Institute of Art.
Working primarily with functional ceramics, Beasecker makes a range of objects intended for counters and cupboards, happy to live in the periphery of a domestic life.  He works primarily in porcelain because of the luminosity it lends to the glazes and the clarity it gives to line.  Beasecker’s work reflects a studied sensibility, a nod to history while occupying a contemporary stance.

Pastels & Mosaics
At CazArts website
I paint with soft pastels, compressed sticks of pure pigment that I love for their intense colors and the variety of ways they can be applied to my painting surface.

When our weather here in Central New York is good, I’m out painting from our landscape. When it’s wet, cold, and windy I hunker down in my studio to work on still life paintings or mosaics. Color is always my prime motivator for both media. The mosaics are also inspired by materials at hand like old pieces of china or glass scraps given to me. Here is a recent mosaic with a palette suggested by landscape colors earlier this Fall.

Check out my website
or email me to visit my studio by appointment,
You can also see my paintings, mosaics, and cards at Cazenovia Artisans.

An internationally exhibited artist, an active member of Cazenovia Artisans.  Bigness’ large-scale paintings are often selected and commissioned for corporate and residential clients, including the Turning Stone Resort; Merrill Lynch Corporation; Haylor, Freyer and Coon; and Bausch and Lomb.

I believe our bodies move with the currents of nature.

Susan is a professional Metalsmith, Designer, Graduate Gemologist and Jewelry Instructor. Susan has been an instructor at Syracuse University in their Metalsmithing and Jewelry program, at Cazenovia College’s Studio Art program, and enjoys teaching in her home studio in Cazenovia, NY.

I have been mystified by jewelry and body adornment for as long as I can remember. I collected antique jewelry as a young child and remember being in awe of the magical pieces in my mother's jewelry box. Occasional trips to an intriguing local antique shop opened the door to a love of creating one of a kind jewelry art.

My work is primarily fabricated in silver and/or gold. I
often embellish my pieces with unusual gemstones, for their amazing beauty and
color. The selection of materials and techniques for my work have a strong connection
to my adoration of natural forms.

I’ve been weaving for over 45 years and have never tired of it. There’s always something new to learn. I use natural fibers—wool, cotton, silk, rayon (which is cellulose from trees, bamboo).

I have an MA in art history. My focus has always been color. Two years ago, at a show in Rochester NY, a woman came up to me wearing one of my jackets. She said, “Remember when I came to your studio 36 years ago?”

All of my garments are my own design. No commercial patterns. I weave the fabric with a garment in mind but sometimes it works and sometimes it wants to be something else. I have fabrics on my shelves that are waiting for the right design. It’s got to be a match.

This year I have been painting commissions constantly.  Here are some  recent examples.

The art of painting on porcelain is ancient, over two thousand years old this year! This is an extremely versatile and permanent art medium, one that deserves to be continued with individual styles and tastes.
