Jimmy Binkley, "Wine, Wine, Wine"
The holidays are in full swing, and I think a lot of us could use a little liquid merriment to help us get through the homestretch. I couldn't find out much about Jimmy Binkley—he doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry—beyond the fact that he seems to have lived out the days since this number was released on Chess Records' Checker imprint in 1955 in Peoria, IL, where he died in 2015. The undeniably cool piano riff, loping bass line will have you reaching for a corkscrew in no time.

"The 21 Best Southern Albums of 2021," The Bitter Southerner
While there may be a few duds on this list (looking at you, Lil Nas X), The Bitter Southerner's year-end round-up never fails to bring to my attention some great music that I'd not previously heard of. Susto, Mereba, and Curtis Harding were some of the standouts for me this year.
