"Auva Auva Koi Yahan Nache Nache (Remix)"

Since we're in the midst of the South Asian festival of Diwali, it seems like a good time to share one of my occasional recommendations of Bollywood songs (albeit one that has nothing at all to do with Diwali). The early to mid-2000s saw a tidal wave of dance remixes of classic Bollywood songs, and this version of "Auva Auva Koi Yahan Nache" ("Someone Here is Dancing"), from 1982's unforgettably cheesy Disco Dancer just might be the most jawdropping example of the genre. It combines the source material—itself a blatant rip-off of... er, homage to "Video Killed the Radio Star"—with some bombastic turn-of-the-millennium dance production to create something I can only describe as "batshit crazy."

Speaking of dancing, did you ever stop to wonder what role Detroit techno might have played in the reunification of Germany? Me neither. But this story from 99pi does a great job of connecting the dots between the music scenes of two cities on opposite sides of the world, as well as once city divided by a simple wall.
