"Go Outside," Ratboys

It's been an eventful two weeks for me, dear readers. Now fully vaccinated, I took my first real sojourns out  into the real world in the past fifteen months. I ate in restaurants. I flew on an airplane. I bought a ticket to see some live music. To me, this tune from Chicago's own Ratboys (playing up the more country side of their sound, rather than the usual indie pop) perfectly encapsulates those first tentative but joyous steps out into the world again.

"Hearing" - Jack Hitt, This American Life

Over the last few year or so, I feel like I've gotten *really* acquainted with my house. But in this, one of my favorite This American Life stories, we meet a man who has mapped the pitches of the ambient sounds in his entire world. Turns out they don't sound all that great: ever hear of "the Devil's chord"?
