September 14th We going to have Sharon Krichner speak who was diagnosed back in 2007 with PD. She started a blog, Twitchy Woman, My Adventures with Parkinson’s Disease. She also started a group for women that was more of a social/educational group than a support group in Los Angeles, CA. Last March, due to the pandemic, she took the program on-line with Zoom. Sunday Mornings with Twitchy Women started on March 22 with nine women. They have met every two weeks on Sunday mornings and now have more than 200 women who have participated, some from as far away as the UK and New Zealand!  https://twitchywoman.com/about/

  
October 12th Brian Kopell, MD a Neurosurgeon from Mt Sinai Hospital and his Nurse Practitioner, Meredith Spadaccia will be speaking to us about their new Brain Wellness program.

October 26th Joy Antonelle de Marcaida MD from Hartford Healthcare in Vernon CT will be speaking to us about a recently approved medication for PD called Nourianz (Istradefylline) by Kyowa Kirin Pharmaceuticals.

NOURIANZ is a prescription medicine used with levodopa and carbidopa to treat adults with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who are having “off” episodes.

The number of spots per boxing class has been increased from 10 to 15. Starting in September we are planning to add an option to participate in the classes via zoom.

The YMCA of Greenwich is a Rock Steady Boxing Affiliate and has created a new boxing studio with padded flooring for safety.  Pat Francois, Interim CEO said, “As a Rock Steady Affiliate and with our new boxing studio, the YMCA is in a great position to support members of the PD community”.
