Travel report from a sponsor
On October 10th in 2018, my dream came true! With a wonderful team I boarded the plane, and traveled to Uganda to meet our sponsor children. It was great to meet these precious ones, hold them, tell them what a special place they have in our family (even though we live far from eachother), see where and how they live, their "brothers and sisters" and the "moms" who take care of them . A time to remember! I went to Uganda with a mission: handing out love! And I am sure I succeeded, but I never expected Uganda to bring me so much more than that.
We started our journey in Luwero where I met our sponsor children. Then we went on to the north of Uganda where foundation Words of Faith organized a large campaign. A place where we could experience so much from God! The generosity and gratitude with which people who have nothing give. The joy and hope that they (got to know) through Jesus despite all circumstances. God is so good!
The period after the trip was difficult for me. My health has been deteriorating for a while and early December 2018 I was diagnosed with burnout. A dark time in which God, my family, but also the memories of the wonderful journey became my / our points of light: Hope to hold on to.
At the beginning of this year, God began to speak about the calling He has placed on my life: Caring for each other and bringing hope to the people without hope. At that time, that was what He did for me.
When I was told that another trip would be planned to Uganda this year, I knew that I was going! God spoke directly in my heart: “Together we will bring hope again. If I can take care of finances, can I also take care of a healthy body ?! ”For the first time in months I could look to the future again. In recent months I have been able to find beautiful steps towards a healthy balance in life. The memories of the Ugandan people who ALWAYS have time for each other in the back of my mind.
October 18th is the day! With a new team and a renewed Kim:), we will go to Uganda again. And I will be able to hold all those beautiful pearls again. How grateful I am to God. He's so GOOD!
