Welcome to the new edition of Action Learning News!

Dear IFAL Member, Supporter, Friend

Welcome to the new edition of Action Learning News.

We are committed to ensuring that IFAL remains relevant to your needs in the international Action Learning community, wherever you may be and whatever role you may have. We’d like to achieve this by staying in regular contact with each and every one of you.

We are pleased to announce that our new logo and website have now been launched. We welcome your comments, feedback and observations regarding our website and newsletter, as well as your ideas, contributions, thought pieces, articles, Action Learning experiences and photos etc. for inclusion in future editions.  The deadline for submissions for our next newsletter will be Monday 17 June 2019.  Please get in touch with us here.

We would like to thank our exec colleague Arthur Turner and our administrator Sally Taylor for compiling this edition of the newsletter.

Finally, thank you for your continued commitment and support for Action Learning and IFAL.

Happy reading...

Your continuing professional development

We have developed two ground breaking on-line learning and development opportunities. These are IFAL Across Time Zones and Cafe IFAL which will enable you to benefit from being part of an international Action Learning set and learning environment. We look forward to welcoming you to future meetings.

Café IFAL is an exciting  brand new virtual discussion forum where Action Learning practitioners can share their experiences of using Action Learning in real situations, whether you wish to present a piece of work you’ve delivered – the struggles and successes - or simply contribute to the debate.

Our next Cafe IFAL will explore the question:

Does Action Learning need a facilitator?

on 10th June 14.00 - 15.30 BST
Action Learning Across Time Zones
We are offering Action Learning Across Time Zones as a way of connecting with our international members and potential IFAL members.

Using our Zoom platform we hope to attract international groups (mainly to be conducted in English although we have options for sessions to be conducted in French as well).

All facilitators are experienced Action Learning practitioners. and in order to provide global access to as many participants  as possible, we aim to initially hold sets across three time zones.

New IFAL Objectives, Values and Behaviours

Our newly constituted executive group has been reviewing IFAL's mission of championing all things Action Learning. We have reviewed IFAL's objectives as well as reflecting and developing a new set of values and behaviours that underpin them.

Our LinkedIn site has recently undergone some changes and this has resulted in us being unable to contact members automatically.  The executive team are discussing how to address this issue and hope to be able to continue to maintain a vibrant and interesting LinkedIn group linked to the revitalisation of IFAL as the natural home of Action Learning practitioners across the world.  Meanwhile, make sure to regularly check this Forum for updates.

IFAL Executive News

The current members of IFAL exec are Heidi Schaefer, Jafar Akhavan-Moossavi, John Heywood, Jane Garnham & Arthur Turner.

As an executive committee we have been working on the most accessible and inclusive ways to engage with you and enable you to connect with other Action Learning colleagues internationally.

For the first time we held our last Annual General Meeting on-line.

Our executive colleagues Antony Aitkin, Moira McLaughlin, Mark Russell, Stefan Bergstrand, Linda Keenan & Janie Wilson have either retired or decided to take a temporary break. We extend our warmest thanks and on-going friendship to them for their energy, commitments and contributions.
IFAL Executive Vacancy

We would like to thank Antony Aitkin who has retired after many years of service and committment as exec member and treasurer for IFAL. Antony has agreed to 'holding the reins' until we find a suitable replacement and will provide handover support.

We would like to announce a vacancy, therefore, for treasurer for IFAL from August 2019.  If you are interested in joining our committed and supportive executive group, please contact Jafar or Heidi in the first instance.
