In The Community

Happy New Year - New Opportunities!

One year ago on January 6, 2021, our Nation was under attack! We will NEVER forget the images we watched on the news and social media. Our nation must continue to unite to ensure that we protect our civil rights, our voice, and our vote while protecting our elected officials and police departments.

2021 gave us a new meaning to the words PIVOT, PAUSE, and PURPOSE! I have done all three, what about YOU? From my meetings with residents in various communities, one aspect that many of us shared is embracing family, friends, and living stronger as a result of COVID!

Over the past few weeks we have experienced an increase in Omicron numbers in Prince George’s County. Most of our local hospitals have “declared a hospital emergency (disaster) and implemented crisis policies, procedures, and processes — referred to as Crisis Standards of Care (CSC).” Governor Hogan declared a 30-day state of emergency!

The medical numbers show that being vaccinated will help you, your family, and our community. Most people who get COVID-19 are unvaccinated. However, since vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing infection, some people who are fully vaccinated will still get COVID-19. An infection of a fully vaccinated person is referred to as a “breakthrough infection.” PLEASE get VACCINATED and wear your MASK!

Over the past few days we have been snowed in which gave us time to PAUSE! I hope you were safe and your streets were plowed, if not, please contact the County Hotline 311 to request for your street to be plowed.

As we end 2021, I share my sincere appreciation for your support of my PUSHwithBarbara campaign! Six months ago on July 31, 2021, I filed for candidacy to run for the District 6 County Council seat. With my team and supporters like you, we have and will continue to PUSH to serve our community through our grassroots movement!

We are expanding opportunities to meet and serve our community and host events:
❑ Spoke at two churches and received new supporters
❑ Hosted three Morning Waves, did you see us?
❑ Door knocking and meeting our diverse community
❑ Supporting small businesses with our StopAndShop initiative
❑ Advocating for Covid testing and Vaccination Clinics
❑ Attending Meet & Greets to listen, learn, and discuss the issues that impact our community and county

We are six months away from the primary election on June 28, 2022. Early voting for the Primary Election is Thursday, June 16 - June 23, 2022. Your continued support is critical, as well as the support from your family, neighbors, and colleagues. We need YOU and your VOICE because your VOTE matters!

Stay Informed. Stay Connected. Stay Engaged.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
Thank YOU for your support with PUSHwithBarbara
