Beach Worship & Picnic

The St. John's Beach Worship & Picnic is this Sunday, August 28. Worship begins at 9:30 am, followed by lawn games and a picnic lunch. Bring family and friends! All are invited!

Remember to bring:
  • Lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
  • A side dish or dessert to share. (Burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, lemonade, and bottled water will be provided.)
  • Your favorite lawn game.
We will be at Picnic Area 2, which is located between the Coast Guard station and Overlook Drive. Please check here for detailed parking instructions and how to locate our picnic area.

Livestream the Beach Service
The internet connection at the beach does not support Zoom, so online worshippers are invited to livestream the service via Facebook Live.  You do NOT need to have a Facebook account to do this.  Simply follow the Beach Service Livestream link near the top of our website, and scroll down slightly to find the video.  Please note that the video will not appear until we activate the camera on Sunday morning a few minutes before 9:30 am.  Please also be aware that the internet is spotty at Gillson, so the video may cut out sometimes.  We apologize for those interruptions!  We will do our best to have video for our online folks to the extent that is possible.  Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Love good music, good food, and a good cause? We do too! That’s why our fundraiser this year will be delivering just that. GoodFest is coming Saturday, October 1st. It’ll feature the local music and BBQ we love (with some special guest musicians), and a portion of the proceeds will go to a cause near and dear to our hearts: Family Promise. It’ll be a great time!

In order to help make this fundraiser a success, every household at St. John's is encouraged to buy 10 tickets to sell or give away to friends and family members. Tickets can be purchased at the Eventbrite link below. Please also share the Eventbrite on Facebook and via email to anyone who might enjoy an evening of good food, good music, and good company. Thank you!

Tabling during the Wilmette Block Party
Please help us spread the word about our upcoming GoodFest by tabling outside St. John’s during the Wilmette Block Party on September 10. Folks will be walking by our wonderful location, and we’ll be sharing our parking lot that day to help the village out. We need your help staffing a table with GoodFest and Space Sharing info. You can sign up here to help.
Hosting Coffee Hour
We treasure the time to socialize after worship each Sunday,  but it takes at least one or two people to set up coffee, provide treats, and clean up each week. In order to show hospitality to one another, we ask that everyone sign up to host at least one time between now and the end of 2022.  Thank you for your consideration!
Soup Kitchen
A great big thank goes to members of St. John’s who have so kindly supported this important event over the past year.  Because of your generosity, the next Sunday Soup Kitchen which St. John’s is scheduled to host on September 4 is already fully funded, and can take place without further donations!  Thank you for opening your hearts for this cause.

Centered in the heart of Wilmette, we want to be a home for doing good. Preaching & Presiding Minister:  The Rev. Allison Bengfort
Assisting Minister:  Cindi Rachowicz
