Latest News
The Liverpool City Region Freeport is officially open for business after Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Michael Gove approved its full business case. Once fully operational, it is estimated that the freeport could create more than 14,000 new highly skilled jobs, deliver £800m of investment and generate an additional £850m of GVA for the Liverpool City Region’s economy. North West based engineering firm DefProc, has celebrated a successful 12 month period at its Liverpool Science Park HQ, with 14 high-profile projects worked on, the retention of its core team and strong financial figures. Projects included Lux @ Light Night Leeds, the domestic hydrogen sensor prototype H2Go and the creation of an interactive wall at one of Manchester’s smartest workspaces Find out more here
Hugh Baird College has become the latest organisation, and the first Further Education College in England, to sign up to the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code. The Code, created by EngineeringUK, is a commitment to work toward common goals to increase the diversity and number of young people entering engineering careers. Find out more here
The Levelling Up Secretary and Shadow Secretary of State, Michael Gove MP and Lisa Nandy MP, will deliver keynote speeches at the Convention of the North in Manchester. The Convention of the North is the region’s major annual gathering, bringing together business, political and civic leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the North. Find out more here
LCR High Growth Programme
The LCR High Growth Programme is designed to support businesses in Liverpool City Region demonstrating high growth potential to innovate, adapt, and grow. The programme is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and delivered by Growth Platform.

You will be offered a diagnostic of your business and with the support of a dedicated account manager, a central point of contact, guiding you through the different elements of the programme depending on your needs.

Help to Grow Programme: Information event for SME business leaders
Help to Grow: Management is a 90% government funded 12-week programme that is being delivered by University of Liverpool Management School, with input from and access to business growth experts and experienced company leaders. They are running several cohorts throughout 2022 and 2023 – next cohort starts in March. Each cohort is strictly limited to 25 places for SME business leaders across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and North Wales.

Join other small business leaders for this 30-minute online taster event. Hear about what the programme covers, what you’ll learn, how it works and what you can expect your business to achieve as a result. There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the Help to Grow delivery team, ask questions, and get support with your application if you need it.

New Markets 2 ERDF Programme - Time is running out to apply
Time is running out to access New Markets 2 ERDF Funding. The programme is finishing this year and new applications will need to be in by 31 March

Growth Platform’s New Markets 2 ERDF programme can provide a 35% grant towards the cost of consultancy or agency fees to help. There is also a fast track New Markets 2: Express for projects between £3000-£5000.

This can include help towards:
  • ISO Accreditation Guidance
  • Internal Systems Development
  • Website Re-design / Development
  • HR Support
  • Coaching
  • Content Production
  • Marketing and PR Support

Liverpool City Region Capital Grant Fund
The Liverpool City Region Capital Grant Fund, delivered by St Helens Chamber, is part of the LCR High Growth Programme that is part funded by ERDF and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and managed by Growth Platform – Liverpool City Region Growth Company.

The fund supports small and medium sized businesses based in the Liverpool City Region, primarily in B2B sectors with high growth potential that are looking to invest in their future plans for expansion through the purchase of plant and equipment or other fixed assets

Made Smarter Innovation Programme
The Industry Ready Robotics and Automation funding call from the Made Smarter Innovation programme aims to develop industry ready solutions for deployment within manufacturing production environments. The funding window will launch on the 18 January 2023 with a funding pot of up to £6m.

This funding call will focus on driving industrially ready robotic solutions for deployment within all types of manufacturing factory settings. Aimed at late-stage higher Technology Readiness Level (TRL) developments, projects will be able to run for  up to 12 months and culminate in trials within a production environment. Projects must be an innovative development or novel application of robotics and automation that overcomes a technical  barrier.

Sustainable bio-based materials and manufacture: feasibility study
UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £2 million for feasibility studies to develop and improve sustainable biomanufacturing in the UK.
