Dalit activists formed the Dalit Welfare Organization (DWO) to end caste-based discrimination: "the division of people into groups where the assignment of rights are determined by birth, are fixed and hereditary and is unequal and hierarchical, with those at the top enjoying most rights coupled with least duties and those at the bottom performing most duties coupled with no rights."

Lobbying, advocacy and raising awareness are essential to eliminating caste-based discrimination

As part of its effort to improve economic opportunities DWO signed an agreement in June to offer TCP Global micro-loans, starting in five communities.

DWO teaches modern farming techniques to increase yield.

Dalits are typically landless. They are addressing that problem as well.

DWO programs aim at eliminating hunger and famine among the beneficiaries.
While welcoming garlands are typical in this part of Asia, TCP Global Nepal Advisor, Yogi Kayastha (2nd from left) had never before received an edible organic garland.
DWO operates in the most impoverished districts throughout Nepal.
Poverty is the absence of all human rights. The frustrations, hostility and anger generated by abject poverty cannot sustain peace in any society.   - Muhammad Yunus

How you can support TCP Global:

1) Connect us, like Andrew did, with potential loan partners in marginalized communities

2) Forward this notice so others can learn from Marvin how a little capital can have a huge impact.

3) Volunteer like Kenney, to mentor a loan program in a country you know well

4) Make a donation like RPCVs of Chicago, Kansas City, Long Island and Madison-Wisconsin, and Friends of Colombia and Nepal.
Until Peace Corps is back in the field, TCP Global is a good substitute for Peace Corps Partnership Projects for supporting development in small and remote communities around the world.
