Thanks to Liberty community support for the 2019 bond election, two new schools are under construction. The layout of the Liberty Elementary School Rebuild is taking shape. Liberty students can look forward to starting school next year in new buildings. Additional demolition of existing buildings will continue after the start of the school year.

Blue Horizon Elementary School is also under construction for the first phase, to open August 2021 for kindergarten through 5th grade students. The construction of additional classroom wings and a gymnasium will continue during the school year in preparation for the start of school in August 2022. Construction is phased due to availability of School Facility Board funds approved by the Legislature.

COVID case counts per 100,000 in the Liberty District boundaries are approximately 20% higher than Maricopa County data. For the week of December 27th, the district surpassed 1,000 cases per 100,000. The threshold for Substantial is greater than 100 cases per 100,000.

While the Arizona Department of Health Services and Maricopa County Department of Public Health have granted the Liberty Elementary School District a waiver to suspend Onsite Support Services until further notice, the District recognizes how critical these supports are to families.

The District will continue onsite support services as long as we have sufficient staff and there is not a qualified outbreak at one or more schools. It is essential that as a community, we enhance our mitigation measures. If there are safe alternatives to the Onsite Support Services program for your children during the school day, please consider utilizing those options to minimize exposure to the virus.

The Arizona State School Tax Credit Program is a great opportunity for Arizona residents to make a financial donation to a public school of their choice and receive a state tax credit. Arizona residents who file individually may donate any amount up to $200, and residents who file jointly may donate up to $400, and receive a dollar-for-dollar reduction on their state taxes.

For a limited time, the State has expanded tax credit opportunities for capital items.  All Liberty schools are running a campaign to raise tax credit monies in support of the following unique capital opportunities:

Estrella Mountain – Outdoor Learning Center

Freedom Elementary – Library Remodel

Liberty Elementary – Digital Marquee

Las Brisas – Band Equipment

Rainbow Valley – Digital Marquee

Westar Elementary – Library Remodel

Please help our schools to meet their campaign goals.  Click here for access to the Tax Credit Donation Form. For access to the Arizona Department of Revenue website for more information or for the tax filing form 322, click here.  Thank you in advance for your support of our students and schools!
