Sociology Department Guidelines for P/NP in Fall 2022
On November 8th, 2022 students were emailed an announcement that the L&S Executive Committee has extended the P/NP grading option selection to December 11th, 2022 for courses taken in Fall 2022.
This statement is shared to provide clarification on what this means for Sociology requirements.
Students majoring in Sociology may elect the P/NP grading option for up to 2 courses in Fall 2022, but need to bear in mind the following:
- Only 1 Prerequisite course may be taken for P/NP- Sociology 1 or 5 or 7 (or statistics or logic)
- Only 1 Theory course may be taken for P/NP - either Sociology 101 or 102
- If matriculated during semesters impacted by COVID (Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Summer 2021) a Sociology major may take no more than 5 classes total for P/NP to satisfy the Sociology major requirements, including no more than 2 courses for P/NP in Fall 2022.
