Athletes, Families and Support Staff,

Midwest, Great Lakes, U16 and U18 trip leadership members unanimously approved CXC vaccination policy for participation in the 2022 Midwest Division, Great Lakes Division and Central Region Junior Trips.

Trips include:

    • U.S. Ski & Snowboard Junior National Championships
    • U16 Championships Trip
    • U18 Championships Trip

The Central Cross Country Skiing will require all coaches and athletes to provide proof of vaccination prior to accepting team nomination. This requirement will help protect the health and safety of all participants, minimize the risk and spread of COVID-19 infection on these trips, and is consistent with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard and United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee vaccine requirements.

Vaccines that meet this requirement include Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. Participants will be asked to show proof of vaccination by completing a 2-shot series of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Participants will be considered fully vaccinated two weeks after completing the 2-shot series of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The first dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna vaccine needs to be given on or before January 20, 2022. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine needs to be given on or before February 15, 2022. These dates ensure the appropriate amount of time between the first dose of a vaccine and the competitions to be considered fully vaccinated.

Boosters after the primary series increase protection against the COVID-19 variants but are not required to be considered fully vaccinated. Boosters are highly encouraged as participants become eligible to receive them. Boosters have been proven to add another layer of protection against the current variant.

Medical and religious exemptions will be considered on a case by case basis by CXC. Requests for exemptions will be reviewed by the CXC Vaccination Exemption Panel and exemption request forms will be available upon request. The vaccine exemption evaluation process and request forms are based on the exemption process used by the USPOC for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
