DCLA Adaptive Services Interest Group Meeting (Virtual)

Do you have questions about accessibility or assistive technology in universities and libraries and want to share your problem solving process? The Adaptive Services Interest Group (ASIG) of the District of Columbia Library Association (DCLA) is holding another meeting over Zoom.

ASIG will support conversation on strategies and best practices for accessibility services at libraries and other institutions. Invited are librarians, accessibility and assistive technology professionals and users from around the DC/MD/VA area who want to problem solve in a shared environment. Please feel free to share this announcement appropriately. Topics of discussion could include any of the following:
  • Universal Design
  • Best practices in virtual services due to Covid
  • Are there audio loops incorporated into the design of buildings?
  • What types of effective communication are offered to the public?
  • Distributing adaptive technology service remotely
  • Marketing adaptive technology services to different communities
  • Converting materials to alternative formats
  • Evaluation of new adaptive technologies
  • Reports from national AT conferences
  • Local AT resource providers
  • Cloud-based AT notetaking solutions (e.g., Glean,,,
  • Smartpens (e.g., Livescribe),
  • Built-in options (e.g., Microsoft, Google),
  • Tools for executive functioning (e.g., Tiimo)
  • Best practices in virtual services due to Covid
  • The move of AT to personal devices
