November Recap
In-Person Worship
This month we continued to have in-person Sunday Worship Services.  These were made possible through careful planning and following health guidelines set by the city and state.  The main guidelines were:
  1. Masks were required while at the service and we asked that you bring your own chair, contacting the church office if you needed a seat provided.
  2. Upon arrival there was a short questionnaire before being ushered to an assigned space.
  3. We asked for those attending to pre-register so that we can maximize the number of people that can attend.  Find the form here.
Now that the winter weather has started to arrive, services will be indoors.  Mask, check-in, distancing, and registration guidelines will remain in place as we move inside.  Please stay tuned for emails on the church member mailing list for more information when it is available.  Updates will also be posted to the church website and Facebook page when available.

Online Resources
As we begin having small in person services we will still be posting sermons online for those that are not feeling well or not comfortable worshipping in person. Videos are available online on both the church website and FCCWH YouTube Channel.

We are also beginning to live stream the services via Zoom.  If you would like to watch the sermon live, follow the link on the homepage of our website.

Below are all the links you'll need to access content that has been posted online.  We will continue to post new material as it is available.

December Updates
Mission Update
The Mission Emphasis for the month of December is for the Christmas Fund (formerly known as Veterans of the Cross).

For decades, the Christmas Fund — formerly known as 'Veterans of the Cross' — has helped provide supplemental monies for pension and health insurance premiums to low-income retirees. At Christmas, the offering provides gift checks to hundreds of annuitants, but it also provides emergency assistance to clergy and lay employees and their families throughout the year.
Please note  on your check donations to Monthly Mission Emphasis-Christmas Fund.

The Christmas Eve service collection will benefit Alex’s Kitchen.

Alex's Kitchen is a mission of our church. Free lunch is served every Monday afternoon throughout the year. The Kitchen was the dream of the late Alex Miklos, a Viet Nam veteran and active, caring church member.  Alex was involved in an accident and was left a paraplegic, but he never stopped caring about others.  He felt there was a need for a soup kitchen in West Haven. Through his commitment, and dedication to this effort, and the hard work of all the volunteers, Alex's Kitchen became a reality.  It has been here at the church for over 10 years. Alex's Kitchen's mission is to provide food and fellowship for the body and soul.

Please support these very worthwhile missions.

Thank you for your support this year!! Even during the challenging year of 2020! Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas and a Happy and HEALTHY New Year from the Mission Committee.
A Note From Christian Education:
The Advent season began on November 29th. The Board of Christian Education has prepared Advent bags which were sent home with the children attending in person Sunday School on November 22nd. The Advent bags included a Family Advent Guide, crafts and coloring pages. The Interim Christian Education Director has available bags for anyone who has not received one. Please contact her to arrange pick up.

As we did last year we are asking all the children to participate with the Reverse Advent Calendar. Find a box that you have laying around the house to put all of your items in. Each day add the item from the attached calendar to your box. At a date and time to be determined in January we will ask everyone to do a drive by drop off of the items which you have all collected during the month of December. All of the donations which we collect will be donated groups and organizations within West Haven depending on the amount of items we collect. The more we can collect the more families we can help after the holidays. Last year's collection was a huge success and the Board of Christian Education and I am hopeful we can have another great collection year.
If you have any questions regarding Sunday School, children’s programs or how we are navigating our programs during COVID-19, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kirsten Vargo, Interim Christian Education Director at
A Note from the Board of Trustees:
Greetings Church Family!

I trust you all had a blessed Thanksgiving. I would like to thank Bill and Judy Ewry and all of the volunteers who volunteered countless hours over the last few weeks to make sure families enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Trustees are hard at work finalizing the 2021 budget for the Annual Meeting. We are also continuing our work gathering information to move to the next steps of the steeple restoration. We have formed a small subcommittee for capital fundraising. If anyone has ideas for fundraising, please reach out. No donation is too small!

I pray that we will continue to have in-person worship throughout the Christmas season and I look forward to seeing you all. If by chance we are unable to gather together, then I pray that each of you have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. May God continue to protect you and your families, and our beloved church.

Chairman, Board of Trustees
