June Recap
Online Resources
As part of ongoing social distancing efforts, in-person gatherings continue to be temporarily suspended at FCCWH.  June sermon videos, as well as all sermons since the suspension began, are available online on both the church website and FCCWH YouTube Channel.  The prayer list and prayer request information are also kept up to date on the website.  Below are all the links you'll need to access content that has been posted online.  We will continue to post new material as it is available until we are able to meet in person again.

Beginning with the June 28 sermon there are now hymn lyrics on the website as well.  The link to view lyrics included in a sermon can be found at the top of the Sermon page on the website or in the video description if viewing it on YouTube.

July Updates
A Note From Christian Education:
On July 18th, Amanda Fagnani, Adelicia Parise, Cheyenne Lezcano, Lily Collins, Abigail Collins, and Jenna Link will all make their Confirmation. Pastor Carl, Chair of Deacons Ruth Costa, and myself are all very proud of the girls and the hard work that they have put in.

After long discussions the Christian Education Committee has decided to cancel Vacation Bible School (VBS) for this year. We will be back next year bigger and better than ever. If you are interested in summer activities for your children please contact me for activities (use email included below).

Sunday school lessons are still being sent out and we have developed a plan for the Confirmation Students to continue working on their studies as well during this time. If you have any suggestions on things you would like to see happen during this time, please contact me (

A Note From the Board of Deacons:
Hello everyone,

We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.

Although we are not in church right now, we hope you are  enjoying the sermons via our website, on YouTube, or in print. Judy Iversen and Judy Ewry are mailing the printed version out to everyone who does not have email or has specifically requested to have it mailed to them. IF you are not able to enjoy the sermon online, please reply to this email.  We will reach out to work with you on the best way for us to provide it.

If there is anything you need, any questions you would like to ask, or just want to talk, there are many ways to reach someone. You can call the church (203.933.6291), Pastor Carl (475.224.9958), or Chair of Deacons, Ruth Costa (203.507.7580).  If you would like to send an email, see the contact information listed below.
Have a blessed day.
July Mission Emphasis
The Mission Emphasis for the month of June is FISH. The primary mission of FISH of Greater New Haven, Inc., is to provide emergency food assistance to the home-bound in the Greater New Haven area. They deliver free bags of nutritionally sound groceries to households. The households  include families with children, elderly, sick, disabled, veterans, unemployed and underemployed individuals. Their clients are often unable to travel walk-in or mobile pantries and cannot afford an adequate supply of food.

FISH is the only agency in the area to deliver free food to its (unfortunately) growing clientele. FISH of Greater New Haven remains a social service organization that is non-profit and non- denominational. FISH is an organization sustained by volunteers who are active service providers, financial supporters, planners and evaluators.

Please mail in donations and notate Monthly Mission  Emphasis July—FISH of Greater New Haven.
Thank you from the Missions Committee

A Note from the Apple Fest Committee

Dear Friends:

2020 has presented many unique challenges for each of us. Although businesses and recreational areas are slowly beginning to reopen, we must continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19 and take steps to protect one another.

The Apple Festival is one of West Haven’s largest community events. It is a weekend of food, entertainment and fellowship. The volunteers of the First Congregational Church and outside organizations look forward to putting on the Festival each year; to see so many happy faces over the weekend. Unfortunately, given the uncertainty of what the Fall might bring, the decision has been made to cancel the Apple Festival this year.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly. We are sensitive to the fact that many organizations rely on the Apple Festival for donations, and that our crafters and vendors count on the income generated from the Festival. Yet, our primary Christian responsibility is to ensure the health and safety of our volunteers, vendors, entertainers and patrons.

We hope you all stay safe and healthy, and look forward to a great Apple Festival in 2021!

With blessings,

First Congregational Church of West Haven

Apple Festival Committee
