Hello Troublemakers,

It has been a wild time since Denver won and we learned quite a few things in the process.

Focus on volunteers, fundraising, and influencers.

Decriminalize California is now 150+ volunteers strong and we are 524 days out from the November 2020 election.

In order to cover all the key areas, we are turning on the Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego Team meetings in June.

We selected those areas primarily because of their massive voter populations and strategic locations.

Check out the California Campaign Math spreadsheet for a combination of voter turnout from the last gubernatorial election and the voter party registrations as of October 2018.

Total Projected Cost Range: $6,713,496 - $13,426,992

Total Votes Cast in California  in 2018:
12,712,542 x 5.1% = 648,339 Valid Signatures to get an Initiative on the Ballot.

Keep in mind only 2 out of 3 signatures collected will be valid because of people putting down the wrong address of where they are registered to vote or their info is illegible.

Meaning we need to get roughly a million signatures and validate each one to get the numbers we need.

If we go for 20% of the voters from the last election in each of these four counties we will have enough to get the state initiative on the ballot.

We will also be turning on other counties and cities as we go along.

The math is rough but we have one extraordinary advantage in California... Hollywood.

Rumor has it one or two famous people live there.

We shall see. ;)

P.S. And good luck to Decriminalize Nature in the City of Oakland today. Reminder, the meeting is from 5:30 - 8:30 PM today Tuesday, May 28th at Oakland City Hall, 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland, California 94612. Bring a snack if you are prone to get hungry since it's agenda item #8.

Denver First, California Next!

After many years of prescription medications failed her a suicidal woman turns to underground healers to try and overcome her depression, anxiety, and opioid addiction with illegal psychedelic medicine like magic mushrooms and iboga.

Each night there'll be a Q&A and an opportunity to go to a restaurant down the street to meet the filmmakers Tyler Chandler & Nicholas Meyers and psychedelic experts from the film Trevor Millar Mark Howard and continue the conversation with them and representatives from Decriminalize California and the 920 Coalition.
