Haere Mai!

Welcome to April. Our team hope that you and your family had an enjoyable, safe and relaxing Easter break. Today (Tuesday 6th) means our young people have an extra day off for Easter Tuesday and this means that our team are happy to open The Hangout Youth Centre from 12pm - 5:30pm today.

Throughout last month our team were kept on our toes developing programmes, running programmes, supporting schools with the Year's 7 & 10 camps, professional development opportunities, operating a busy Youth Centre and more.

Just when we thought March went by quickly; April is going to absolutely zoom by with only a couple weeks left of term then the Autumn Holidays for the final two weeks of the month. Our recent Autumn Holiday Programme went 'live' and even with extra spaces on the activities - thanks to our new 12 seater van - we still managed to book out up to 90% of spaces within 48 hours; which is incredible.

It has also been extremely humbling to have recently received grants for purchasing outdoor equipment thanks to Sports Otago/Sports New Zealand Tu Manawa Fund and Macpacs Fund for Good. This supports our goal of eliminating barriers for all youth and families so they can partake in our programmes without the pressures of having to provide their own gear. We also have some more exciting news which we cannot wait to share in the coming weeks.

Additionally, we are looking for another member of our team to join our growing service. So if you know of someone who would be amazing with young people and has the passion, dedication and commitment then scroll down further to find out how to apply.
This April we have set a fundraise goal to reach $1,000 to support our programmes we operate at Cromwell Youth Trust. Every cent raised enables CYT to implement new and exciting programmes that eliminate barriers for youth and families. We hope you may want to join our April fundraising goal to support our young people.

CYT are growing and we are looking for a fourth (4) Youth Worker to join our amazing team.
For more information on the role, and to apply, please click the link above.

CYT and Amigos Cromwell are once again collaborating to provide an exceptional experience for six (6) youth to 'Take Over Amigos' and spend an evening serving customers, taking their orders, serving them food (made by the staff of Amigos), serving drinks, clearing tables and more!

This popular event is an experience not to be missed and we are looking for expressions of interest for youth who want to take part.

Please note that this event will be taking place during May. We will be informing the selected youth mid-April - if you're child has taken part before please know we will be prioritising those who have yet to have the experience due to small numbers.

Booking out about 90% of spots within 48 hours was incredible but we are aware this has meant some youth and families have missed out on the opportunity to take part in our popular Holiday Programme.

We currently have a waitlist operating for all activities that are booked out - so if you are still interested please click the image above to put your childs name down; as a spot may open.

Cromwell Youth Trust are excited to announce we are establishing a Rainbow Youth Group as a FREE EVENING DROP-IN sessions on a monthly basis. This is an opportunity for Rainbow Youth & Allies to have a safe, supportive and confidential space.

Our evening drop-in sessions are about connection & introducing opportunities for our Rainbow Youth to have a voice to discuss, or learn more about, the LGBTQ+ community.

If you are a young person; or a parent/guardian who has a child who identifies in the LGBTQ+ community then please feel free to connect with our Youth Workers to find out details on our next drop-in session.

If you would like to learn more than please feel free to contact Manager Rhys Smith via

Macpac Fund for Good

We were thrilled to have received a Macpac Fund for Good grant worth $5,000 towards the purchase of awesome MacPac gear.

This gear included rain jackets, insulated sleeping mats, merino tops, fleece jackets and hooded jackets. These high quality items will be used to support our Youth throughout our various outdoor adventures and positive youth development opportunities - check out our team using them during our recent overnight camp!

Thank you Macpac for helping CYT provide a "lasting impact on people's lives through the outdoors"!
