WesleyKU at Westwood House
kumethodists.org
Three WesleyKU representatives attended the Great Plains Annual Conference in La Vista, Nebraska. Amarais Towle, our Connections Minister, was a lay delegate for FUMC on behalf of WesleyKU. Karis Brown staffed the campus ministry table. Liz Collins served as Salina District's young adult representative. All three assisted with events for conference youth who attended Annual Conference.

Bishop Ruben Saenz awarded Amarais the prestigious Harry Denman Award for Evangelism which honors United Methodists in each annual conference whose exceptional ministry of evangelism brings people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. Rev. Susan Mercer nominated Amarais based on her work as WesleyKU Connections Minister. Amarais will attend the Boston School of Theology at Boston University in the fall to pursue a Master of Divinity.

Students gathered at Westwood House for a summer cookout on June 29 and enjoyed hotdogs, s'mores, and an evening of summer fun and fellowship. Our next summer cookout is July 20th at 5p for current and incoming students.

CARE TEAM MINISTRY
News from Stephen Ministry
There are times when each of us needs the care of another person, a Christian friend, a Stephen Minister! What kinds of times? The loss of a loved one, the loss of a job or a change in responsibilities, a financial crisis, receiving a medical diagnosis or dealing with a chronic condition, separation or divorce, a new baby, a move to or from a different location, helping an aging or disabled family member, or just feeling the need for the support of a Christian friend. Contact Laura Irick at l.irick@sbcglobal.net or Sandy Liechti at sandra.liechti@yahoo.com.

News from the Big Garden
Things are growing on at the Big Garden! We have donated 320lbs of fresh produce to Just Food so far. We have watermelon, beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, and more filling our donation beds. Our individual gardeners are having a great production year too-from kohlrabi to corn, rhubarb to Asian long beans, it is a sight to see. And stay tuned: the garden will be moving this fall to another part of the West Campus grounds!
