Last week WesleyKU re-launched two weekly community meals: Wednesdays, 6-6:45p before worship, and on Thursdays, 6-7:30p. We are delighted to announce First Church member Matthew Pribbenow as our new Chef! Matthew plans our menus and handles all meal preparation. We are also excited to announce Jack Mercer as our lead cook for Thursday's meals. Jack and several student volunteers execute Chef Matthew’s menus. Our Queer Faith ministry hosted its first Spooktacular Drag Show on October 22 at The Jay in the Kansas Union. The event was a wild success with at least 100 students in attendance for an evening of fun. Pastor Susan is a contributing author for the newly released book, “Campus Ministry: Finding Meaning and Purpose in Higher Education”, published by FTE. Susan’s chapter is based on her work with WesleyKU students through the Lilly Endowment Campus Ministry Theological Exploration of Vocation (CMTEV) grant program. Only 5 of the 104 CMTEV programs nationwide (and no other United Methodists) are featured in the book. Susan was also a panelist at the Lilly Endowment CMTEV Program Gathering October 18-20 in Indianapolis, Indiana speaking about best practices and trends in campus ministry. After much planning, and the gracious labor of Bob Hughes, Stan Jones and Scott Hildebrandt, the new trailhead sign for the Wesley Nature Trail is nearing completion! The final steps are to install a map of the trail and a communications cabinet for messaging throughout the year. Thanks to all who have worked to make this possible!
November is Native American Heritage Month
(commonly referred to, as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month).
This is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people,” according to the National Congress of American Indians.
"Who will know?" Who will know about your problem if you talk with a Stephen Minister? Many people ask this question when considering whether to request one. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of Stephen Ministry. No one will find out what you discuss with your Stephen Minister. If you have a burden you need help to carry, perhaps a Stephen Minister can help.
