OPEN CALL: BlackSO Workshop Facilitators Wanted

The FLHBRC Summer Team is looking for individuals interested in leading workshops during this year's virtual BLACKSO. The tentative week for BLACKSO right now is 8/17-8/21, with the workshops on 8/19 and 8/20 for a potential 1-2 hours (~30 minutes per workshop). We have a few workshops already planned, but we want to open up the possibility of Black students, faculty, staff, or otherwise to create their own workshops based on their personal experiences in order to introduce the incoming class a wider range of people and interests. Some examples include: Black Skaters Workshop, Black Fitness at Cal, Black Vegetarian/Vegan Life at Cal, etc. Feel free to be as creative as possible; What would you have liked to know, see, and experience as a freshman?

If interested in facilitating a virtual workshop for the incoming class, pre-planned or otherwise, please visit tinyurl.com/blacksows2020 for more details and registration.

"I recognize that the Black Lives Matter movement extends far beyond my life, and this means being critical of the state of our nation. I understand that there are good things about America, but I also believe that we need to fix systems that were designed to oppress Blacks and minorities. Understanding systemic racism means that you can't expect the same systems that built racism to be the ones to dismantle it."
