Employee Basic Needs Resources for End of Year
... from our colleague and BSFO ally, Nicole McIntyre, M.A.

Unfortunately, many UC Berkeley employees experience basic needs insecurity, including a lack of consistent access to enough food. This has become more prevalent during the pandemic, and may also increase during the holiday season and winter curtailment. I am writing to share some helpful resources.

Many staff have been making great use of the UC Berkeley Food Pantry, which provides emergency food relief for all UC Berkeley students, staff, visiting scholars, postdocs, and faculty. The pantry is open until December 19th, and will reopen on January 18th. Hours available here.

The Basic Needs Center staff have also compiled this helpful list of other local resources available during the closure period.

Finally, a friendly reminder that the "Be Well at Work - Employee Assistance" team provides no cost confidential counseling and referral for UC Berkeley faculty, staff, visiting scholars, and postdocs.
