Swoop's Top Ten Current Needs
Gluten Free Pasta
On April 24th, Governor Whitmer extended the state of emergency order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This order, stated that food pantries are an essential service. In order to protect shoppers, staff, and our community safe, we have installed different protective measures:
1. Remote Grocery Pick-Up: Shoppers fill out a survey requesting different groceries and household items. After they submit their order, a team member will put together a grocery bag with their name on it and put it in the hallway outside of Swoop's.
2. Limited Staff: For the time being, Swoop's is limited to four staff members per shift. This helps prevent/mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by reducing points of contact.
3. Personal Protective Wear: When working in the pantry, staff is provided or brings their own personal protective wear.
OUR AMAZING TEAM!
This is Lee, Carly and Jon! Thanks to this stellar crew, shoppers are able to pick up groceries remotely! By following CDC guidelines on social distancing, hand washing, and personal protective wear, the Swoop's community will remain healthy and nourished!
It's more imperative than ever to unite and support each other. Swoop's Food Pantry is able to continue to provide basic food needs and self care items thanks to our donors and supporters! Here are some direct quotes from our shoppers sharing how your donations have helped the EMU community
"Swoop's helped me get food in during a time when stores were low on supplies and money was tight due to not being able to work as much. Thank you so much for all the work you guys do and for those that support the pantry!"
"Thank you so much! My mom has a Compromised immune system so being able to get in my car, get food and then exit back at home decreases the chances of me getting the virus as well as my mom."
"Thank you for donating to Swoop’s Pantry! Your donations are greatly appreciated. It is a unique resource specific to EMU and it is definitely essential. I hope the pantry can keep growing and be a consistent and sustainable resource for EMU students. Thank you very much."
