Welcome to the 7th edition of BYOT

Happy birthday to us! We celebrated the first anniversary of BYOM Pty Ltd in October by taking a couple of days away from everything to reset and refocus on our plans for our second year and into 2020. We always advocate the huge importance of taking time to work on your business, not just in your business. We clarified the key areas we're going to work on, and took time to logic-check our business strategy for the next stage of growth.

We were so fortunate to take this time out in the beautiful surroundings of Stay Margaret River, where we were hosted so beautifully by Justin Hickman and his team. Located right in the heart of wine country, Stay Margaret River is the perfect base from which to
explore the famous wineries, caves, forests and beaches of the Margaret River Region.

A great interlude from all the thinking. We couldn't spend the whole of our stay buried in business plans - check out the photo above as we had great fun trying a "blow your own bauble" activity!

As we write this newsletter, we are 'Down South' again, this time in beautiful Busselton delivering our Rural and Regional Entrepreneurs program in association with the RRR Network and the Small Business Development Corporation.

Have a great week!

Vicki and Lisa
We're both pretty seasoned networkers, but we can honestly say that the Wanneroo Business Association have totally blown our minds in the last month as we featured as their Business in the Spotlight. WBA is an amazing example of best practice for a business association. Over the course of six different events, our brand reached 173 attendees, including those who attended our two workshops: "Hone your business skills" and "Networking but not as you know it." We received dozens of social media shout outs, backed up by online and email advertising. We look forward to working with the Wanneroo Business Association again in 2020!

**STOP PRESS! We are so excited to announce that we are finalists in the Start Up of the Year category at the City of Wanneroo's Business Awards. Watch this space for updates...
Like many of our friends in our BYOM community, we are small business owners, which makes the office Christmas party a pretty quiet affair. As we'd be partying by ourselves, we’ve decided to throw a party and invite other business owners so we can all party together!

Please join us for the BYOM Community Christmas Party - tickets are $25 with drinks and canapes served.

We would love to share some festive cheer with so many of you who have made 2019 pretty special for the Blow Your Own Mind team.

As usual, our broad network allows us to attend a wide range of events as well as facilitating capacity building across the Perth Metro area and regionally. Here are some of the highlights.
  • Female Founder Round Table luncheon with the British High Commissioner to Australia
  • Launch of the inaugural Western Australian Guitar Festival "Strings Attached" in Margaret River (pictured below)
  • Crown Resorts Indigenous Employment Program 10th Anniversary Dinner
  • Business After Hours
  • Boosting Female Founders Forum
  • Innovator of the Year Awards dinner
  • Women in Leadership Lunch
  • WA Mining Club Gala Ball
  • International Rural Women's Day luncheon
Last week we were kindly gifted two books to read - check back next month for our reviews of these two titles:
488 Rules for Life: The Thankless Art of Being Correct - Kitty Flanagan
Everything Is F*cked - A Book About Hope - Mark Manson
"If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book." - J.K. Rowling
