This year marks the 400th anniversary of the first Thanksgiving, where the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans celebrated the successful corn harvest.

Though days of thanks have been celebrated in many different ways in the years since, it wasn't until 1863, under President Abraham Lincoln, that it became recognized as a national holiday.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because we get to focus on counting our blessings and giving some real thought to the many ways in which God has blessed us.

I hope that you too are able to spend some time today counting your blessings and giving thanks. It does us all good to remember how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful country. We are all truly blessed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

1776 Education Pledge

We have a very special event coming up on November 30th at Powderhaus Brewing Company in Garden City. It starts at 6:00 PM. The cost is $40, and that includes dinner and beverages.

The proceeds will be donated to the Boise Toys For Tots campaign.

This event will be sponsored by the Lt. Governor to encourage Conservative Republican legislators to sign the 1776 Education pledge to help save our nation's education system. All of the signed pledges will be sent to President Trump to demonstrate which legislators support the "America First" agenda in Idaho.

Sincerely,

Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin
