March 2021 Updates

Hello Wayne County!
March was a busy month for us. How about you? This month’s newsletter provides some brief updates and opportunities under our two buckets: Our Community and Our People. Please share with your family, friends, and colleagues. And encourage them to sign up.

NICE! Program

Our first cohort for the NICE! program completed their training this month. We are excited to see how these participants will use their training for neighborhood and community development. There are still a few days to sign up for the second cohort in April. Please reach out to Forward Wayne County with questions.

Thank You! - Broadband Survey
The Wayne County Broadband Task Force would like to thank all of our community partners, school systems, businesses and more for helping us promote the county-wide broadband survey. In addition, thank you to all of the residents who took the survey. Broadband as a topic, as well as the survey, generated a lot of good conversation. We should have survey results next month.

JA Virtual Career Exploration Fair

Forward Wayne County is excited to partner with Junior Achievement on their first career exploration fair geared toward elementary students. This ties directly to our employability and educational attainment areas of focus. Students will view career videos from local business and community professionals and make the connection on how all jobs matter within a community. We love this idea of connecting the county’s elementary students with local professionals and local jobs!

Amigos Latino Center
Join the Amigos Cinco de Mayo Cinco K (5K) Family Walk/Run! Your support helps Latinx families in need in Richmond and Wayne County! Amigos focuses on education, health, and creating cultural connections. Sign up here.
3 Rivers Credit Union Foundation
Since 1935, 3Rivers has served our community and is committed to investing in the people and programs that support our mission and move this community forward. They have an open grant cycle. Application deadline is April 21st.

Bright Futures Indiana
Child care providers needing help with added COVID-19-related safety expenses, staffing or professional services can apply for a grant from the new Indiana CARES About Child Care fund. Deadline is May 7th. Learn more here.
