Give and Grow Wayne County

The Wayne County Foundation is hosting its first Give and Grow Wayne County event from 5:30-7:00pm on April 13th. Past donors and those interested in learning more about the Foundation are invited to attend. Please RSVP here or call the Foundation office.
 
County-Wide Clean-Up Dates

Spring is here and we wanted to share area clean-up days and other important dates. Mark your calendars!
  • Hagerstown, spring clean-up 4/23/22
  • County Shred Day, Cope Environmental Center 4/23/22, 10am-2pm
  • Richmond, Whitewater Gorge and Bicentennial Park 4/22/22 & 4/23/22
  • Cambridge City, spring clean-up 4/30/22
  • Richmond, Glen Miller Park clean-up 5/13/22 and 5/14/22
  • County Tox-A-Way Day, New Paris Pike Landfill, 5/14/22 9am-Noon
  • Centerville, summer clean-up 6/4/22
Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program provides eligible households with a discount on broadband service and connected devices. This program provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward the internet for eligible households. 2022 Quality of Place Conference “Fighting Apathy”

Richmond Columbian Properties is hosting the return of its highly successful Quality of Place Conference on April 22nd. Reservations for the afternoon event can be made here. The conference location is at the William G. Scott House at 204 North 10th Street in Richmond, Indiana's Elizabeth Starr National Register Historic District.
IN Focus Candidate Forums

Whitewater Community Television, in cooperation with Hometown Media Group and the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce, will host four IN Focus candidate forums during the month of April on WGTV so community members can hear from the candidates running in contested races in the May 3rd primary election. It will also stream live on WCTV’s Facebook page. Candidates for the following races have been invited to participate in the IN Focus candidate forums.
 
Cope Environmental Center’s Smithsonian Water/Ways Exhibit
 
This interactive exhibit highlights the role water plays in our daily lives and how it affects the local community. Accompanying the exhibit is a community art show featuring water related works of art. Water/Ways can be toured free of charge from Feb. 26 – May 9, 2022, Monday through Saturday, 9:00AM – 4:00PM at Cope Environmental Center.
A Culture of Community
 
The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to share their Business Education Series; Culture of Community: Embracing Diversity and Inclusion. There are two remaining events left and everyone is invited to attend. Register for one or both events here.
 
Emergency Connectivity Program
 
The Federal Communications Commission announced that it is opening a third application to award at least $1 billion in Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) support to eligible schools and libraries.  The third application filing window will open on April 28, 2022 and close on May 13, 2022. Eligible schools and libraries can submit requests for support and reimbursement for a maximum of 12 months of costs associated with eligible equipment or services.

Indiana Farm Bureau Speed Test

Please take the Indiana Speed Test at infb.org/speedtest in your home. This test will pinpoint internet speeds, as well as no internet availability. The Wayne County Broadband Task Force needs your help to continue working on broadband deployment across the county.
