What's happening at AHLG?...

After a hectic festive season, 2020 is off to an absolute flier for our hard working team. Our tree crew have been run off their feet with some damage control post bushfires, and also after our recent acquisition of Custom Tree Care - a small Hills-based tree company.

A second truck and chipper are on their way, which will help the guys keep up with the workload. After a steady start, the landscaping guys have kicked into overdrive and have a few really exciting projects on the horizon too! This group of lads are brilliant at what they do and are continuing to learn new tricks and techniques, whilst always maintaining our extremely high standards. Trends in this industry seem to change regularly which is great for keeping everyone on their toes!!

As expected this time of year, the turf and irrigation team have been extremely busy installing new irrigation systems or repairing existing ones, as well as keeping the lawns looking as good as possible during the hot spells! A granulated wetting agent (Hydrolink Gran Plus) has been the flavour of the month as once applied to a lawn or garden bed, it allows the water to penetrate deeper into the soil, meaning the the water is retained for the roots to absorb it. This product can save up to 30% in water use throughout our long and harsh summer - which you’ll no doubt agree is a huge benefit on many different levels!

Our commercial and residential maintenance crews are as busy as ever and continue to pump out some amazing work. Some may say that maintaining properties on a weekly or fortnightly basis may become monotonous, but when you treat each place as your own and grow with the gardens, as our guys do, it becomes more a pleasure than a chore! The amount of feedback we receive from satisfied clients about how much our guys can achieve in a short amount of time is unreal and very pleasing as we are always looking for ways to be as efficient as possible!

Another busy month down and no doubt February will be a stomper too!

Products we love & recommend...

Barricade Pre-Emergent

As we head into the late summer early autumn our crews will be busy preparing lawns and gardens for the colder months and are already thinking about the next growing season. Part of this process is treating these areas with a pre-emergent called Barricade, this product targets unwanted weeds in turf and garden beds before they even appear!
Barricade is able to provide up to 4 months of protection against weeds meaning less labour in the future as well as a better looking lawn and garden.

Partner profile...

Oreon Partners has been AHLG’s accountant for 2 years. As AHLG grew, so did the complexities around taxation. Oreon were able to manage the workload as well as put together forecasts and budgets to allow us to plan for future growth.

Engaging professional services like Oreon has been a boon for AHLG, allowing us to focus on the things we are best at, like maintaining your garden!

What the f...acts...

An average size tree can provide enough wood to make 170,100 pencils!

Recent Projects...

A few snaps from a recent lawn replacement job in Goodwood. It was out with the old kikuyu and in with the new santa ana couch, and a new pop-up irrigation system to boot. A small job like this makes such a big difference and with regular maintenance, will look an absolute treat for years to come.

Machine of the Month ...

Water Cart

We just took delivery of our brand new custom made water cart! The team at Miegel Engineering have produced a number of quality trailers for us in the past and this one is no exception. With a 2000L capacity and high flow pump we are able to hand water commercial sites where irrigation systems are not installed or are not viable to run and maintain. Kris has already put it to good use watering some newly installed roundabout gardens for the City of Unley Council.
