New Staff at PCS
Please welcome our newest staff member Miss Amy Crawford.
Amy is one of our Kindergarten teachers and has made the move from the Central Coast to teach at our wonderful school.

Welcome to PCS Amy!
Welcome Kindergarten
The first day of Kindergarten was a fantastic event with twenty five happy faces going to class and meeting their teachers with enthusiasm.
Kindergarten explored rhyming words, big books, forming numerals on whiteboards, chatted with their buddies and practiced how to line up, all before lunchtime.
Students made it to role model status and gained house points for their house teams for being kind to others and listening well.
Thank you kindergarten students for a fabulous first day, Miss Crawford, Mrs Moss and Mrs Harris look forward to the year ahead.
Year 7 - 10 Sport - Swimming
How amazing to be able to spend two periods at the pool on the first day of school!
Year 7-10 had a fun filled morning of water aerobics, swimming a few laps using different strokes and participating in a small race.
PCS students then enjoyed some free pool time before heading back to school.
Welcome Year 7
Year 7 have had a wonderful start to their high school career at Parkes Christian School with our largest group ever at 33, we are excited to welcome a really great class.
Year 7 we are looking forward to seeing all the amazing things you achieve over the next 12 months.
If parents have any questions about Year 7 and how high school works, please contact the

Teamwork in Business Studies
They say teamwork makes the dream work but in Senior Business Studies teamwork builds some beautiful balloon towers. Students have been focused on developing features of effective management. This includes learning about and improving their skills in; problem solving, decision making, leadership, adapting the change, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
The class split into two groups with the job to create the highest balloon tower that was both aesthetically pleasing and utilised their teamwork skills. They were also interrupted by a "business closure" and "work from home" procedures were put into place.
Students had to work outside in the wind for five minutes and the unpredictable nature of the elements caused some challenges. Both teams rose to the occasion though and managed their time and worked well together to produce some amazing towers.
It was great to see students working on communicating more effectively and leading their teams towards the successful completion of a project.
Students will be engaging in a variety of these types of tasks over the next few weeks to continue to understand course content and work on these real life skills.
Best Start for Year 7
Year 7 students will participate in the Best Start Year 7 Assessment during Term 1, 2021.
Best Start Year 7 is an online literacy and numeracy assessment available to secondary schools that assesses key literacy and numeracy skills of Year 7 students. It is designed to assist teachers to identify students who may require additional support in developing their literacy and numeracy skills. The assessment is undertaken within the first five weeks of the school year.
The purpose of the Best Start Year 7 assessment is to provide feedback to teachers to help identify student needs. Feedback will be provided to teachers who may choose to share this with students, parents and carers during teacher interview processes.
Best Start Year 7 is just one of a range of assessments the school uses to assess students.
Please inform the school if your child has special needs requiring support to complete an online assessment.
