Primary Girls - League Tag Gala Day
Recently, a group of Year 5 and 6 girls participated in a League Tag Gala Day at Grenfell. In the lead up to the event, the team trained nearly every day to hone their skills and learn new team plays for the day.
The day started with a loss when facing a formidable team, losing by two tries. However, the PCS team was eager to win. While waiting for the next game, they reviewed their techniques and developed a new play in order to get past their opponents.
This session paid off and the team could be seen applying their teamwork and great sportsmanship in the remaining two games. In the second game, which was close all the way through, our PCS team managed to achieve a narrow victory by one try. By the final game, they had hit their stride with a decisive victory.
While the victories were wonderful, the true highlight of the day was seen in the attitude of the team. By encouraging the other teams, supporting each other and committing to training between rounds, these girls certainly made this Gala Day one to remember.
We would like to thank Alex sprout and the team at NRL Australia for making today possible.
Year 7 Science
The Year 7 classes have both been learning about the human body, with one class completing the dissection of a lamb kidney and the other class drawing chalk art, hearts and kidneys to show their understanding of the flow of blood and structure of the organs.
Fun facts
- the heart pumps over 7.5 thousand litres of blood per day and beats around 70 times per minute.
- the kidney filters the blood to produce 1mL of urine every 2 minutes, urine should be a clear colour -  if it is yellow the person is dehydrated and needs to drink more water.
Escape with Stories - Year 9/10 English
Year 9-10 Advanced English started their 'new year' with an Escape Room based around the Edgar Allan Poe story, The Tell Tale Heart. They had fun working together to find clues, solve puzzles and open locks as they examined the elements of the story - under the pressure of the clock.
It was a fun way to find new ways to communicate and learn about language. I am looking forward to seeing some students create their own escape room about a text of their choice!
Miss Harris
Visual Arts - Face Painting with Year 7!
Our Year 7 students are currently having fun learning some face painting skills, designs and techniques with the help of Miss Harris. We thought that this would be a great way to learn some skills with a paintbrush while doing something that is a little different from what we would normally do in the Visual Arts classroom.  Students will be practising their designs on themselves by painting designs on their arms and having a go at painting on each other. I am looking forward to seeing what our students can create. Maybe you will see some of their artwork when they come home from school with a lovely painting on their face or their arms!
Year 10 Dubbo Excursion
Year 10 students headed to Dubbo last Wednesday to celebrate the end of Year 10. The students enjoyed two games of 10 pin bowling where Malachi was the overall winner with an impressive score of 220 closely followed by Mr Quince with 197 for the combined two games. After a quick run into Orana mall to pick up some needed lunch supplies, the students headed out to the Dubbo Escape Rooms where they enjoyed the challenge of solvings clues and puzzles in various rooms. A great time was had by all our students and staff. Congratulations Year 10 on the completion of this stage of your education.
