Camping Season is Off to a Great Start!

It's been an exciting month and a half of camping so far this year starting with the MN4WDA Spring Convention to kick off May, our first ever CampOUT! weekend, Memorial Day and the annual LROC Women's Weekend of Wheeling in June! We've officially broken gound on our new restroom/shower building and we are getting ready to start clearing trees for our new overflow parking area. It's been very busy so far, but we wanted to pause for a minute and send out this update so you know what to expect in the coming months. Read the Before You Get Here section below for details on camping during the end of June and throughout July.

Here are the updates you'll find in this issue:
  • Before You Get Here
  • Limited Availability Alerts
  • Celebrating the 3rd and 4th of July in Gilbert
  • Group and Event Bookings
  • Final Words

Before You Get Here

We would like to remind you about a few of our campground rules so you can plan in advance:
  • No Fireworks Allowed. As we get closer to the 3rd and 4th of July holiday weekend, we are reminding all guests that fireworks are banned at West Forty RV Park. We have a zero tolerance policy on fireworks in our campground - including items legally purchased in Minnesota - due to the potential danger to surrounding property, other campers in the campground, people and pets.
  • No Outside Wood. We do not allow firewood from greater than a 50 mile radius of Gilbert. If you bring in wood to the campground, it must be certified by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture or the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and you need to have a receipt for its purchase from within 50 miles of Gilbert. The Emerald Ash Borer has been found in St. Louis County and we are doing our part to decrease the spread. Please do your part, too!
  • Getting to your Campsite. When you arrive, please stop at the blue information kiosk before proceeding to you're site - especially if your rig is longer than 30 feet - so that we can direct you to the easiest path to get to your campsite. Some of our turns can be tricky for larger campers and we want to help make your stay simple and carefree.
  • Please Arrive During Designated Check-in Times. We've heard a lot from guests over the years about how disruptive it can be when people arrive outside of check-in times. We encourage guests to arrive between 3-9 p.m. whenever possible. Our office is open and staffed Thrusday, Friday and Saturday from 3-9 p.m. Call or text us at 218-248-7362 to inquire about early check-in availability.

REMEMBER: WE OFFER FREE AIR - one of our more frequent requests is for the use of our compressor so that Jeeps, Trackers, etc. can 'air up' before driving home. We're happy to let you use our air compressor in the office/maintenance building for free. Look for a retractable air hose at our recycling building later this season and 24-hour free air access!

We are strongly reccomending that guests book well in advance of holiday/event weekends.

Any stay of between 7-29 days will recieve a 10% discount at the time of check-in.

NEW THIS YEAR - We've added a link to an online form on our reservations page to add yourself to our waitlist on sold out weekends. When we have cancellations, this will help prioritize who we call/email first.

Celebrating the 3rd & 4th of July in Gilbert

Here is a list of Independence Day holiday happenings in Gilbert.

A fireworks display will be held in Eveleth on July 3 at 10:15 p.m.

Groups and Events

Let us help you with your large group or event planning! If you have a group, event or riding club that plans to book 15 or more campsites, check out our Groups/Events page for additional information about how we can help make your stay easier and more enjoyable.

When you plan your event with us, we now have a party tent that we can add to our pavilion and create a 20x50 foot event space that's large enough to host a 60 person sit-down dinner. We've even got the tables and seating to give you a great area to gather and relax.

Some Final Words...

We're happy to share that we FINALLY broke ground this month on our new restroom and shower building! Materials are on-site and we hope to see the building rise in the next several weeks.

When we're all done, the building will include a men's restroom with 2 stalls, women's restroom with 3 stalls, and ADA/all-gender restroom and shower and 3 individual showers. We look forward to seeing some great progress over the coming months and we know you'll like the new addition!

Lastly, we are booking up quickly like last year so we strongly reccommend booking early to make sure you get the best sites. And if you can't find a site, request to join our waitlist from our reservations page.

We're working hard to keep earning your business and we look forward to seeing you soon!
