Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands Society Newsletter
Number 4   •   April 2020

Hello and welcome to the fourth newsletter from the Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands Society (PNI). This newsletter is not intended to replace our twice yearly magazine The Bounty; the idea is to only publish this occasionally, or when there is something important to announce.

Having cancelled our meeting in March due to the worldwide Coronavirus Covid 19 situation, I felt it was important to get in touch to let you know that our magazine is still going to be published in July (I'm working on it now, at home of course) and that our website is still being updated.

If you have any comments on this edition, or suggestions for content of future newsletters, please get in touch.

Stay safe and keep well until we next meet in London.

David Ransom, editor of The Bounty

It is with great sadness that we report the death of John O'Conner on 25th March following confirmation that he had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. John was a larger than life character, a true friend of the Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands Society, and of the Pitcairn Islanders. John, on the right in this photograph, had been to Pitcairn on more than one occasion, and is fondly remembered by Brenda and Mike Christian with whom he is photographed here.

New on the PNI website
This page, entitled "Free Stuff", provides links to free downloadable articles from old editions of our magazine. The articles are saved as PDF files so you should be able to read them on any computer or tablet.
Please note that our navigation menu has been simplified. If you cannot see a button, such as the "Sign in" button, you will now find it in a drop down menu by hovering over the "Members Section" button.

The Bounty – July 2020 edition

There is still time to send your copy in for the next edition of The Bounty. The deadline for articles is 1st May, but if you email me, I will be able to let you know if there is still room to include your article / letter / advertisement / news item before we go to print in June.

The sunset image, at the top of this newsletter, is part of our cover picture for the next edition. It was photographed by Michael Ransom from Australia when on holiday in Norfolk Island.
Members only section on the PNI website: Don't forget that your four digit pass code is printed in the January 2020 edition of The Bounty, in the editorial on page 21. Please don't share it.

Do you collect postcards?

I have revived and re-designed my Blog "Collecting Pitcairn Postcards". If you would like to take a look, please click on this link.

The Blog is supported by advertising (which I don't select), but if you click on an advert, I earn a small (extremely small) commission. Please consider visiting one of my advertisers.

If you have any suggestions for content of the Blog, please email me.
The next meeting of the Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands Society is scheduled for 10th October at Doggetts Coat and Badge in London. Members will be emailed closer to the time with more details.
