1/3 This is a bad outcome for #btv. In 2016 we put out a statement in opposition to the mall project based partially on skepticism that the developers would follow through. At the time @MiroBTV called us 'reactionary fringe' for opposing. #btvcc #vtpoli

This is what we call a policy failure.
This is the result of inaction.
We can and must do better.
If we valued our sick friends and neighbors as if they were, let's say, humans, we would do things differently.

Sorry for the late newsletter. You know no software is without bugs. And today there was a kind of bug/wrong assumption in the script that produces BTV Daily. Of course BTV Daily pulls information from external resources/APIs. It makes assumptions about the contents of those resources and sometimes those assumptions are wrong. There needs to be fault tolerance, and in today's error one of the external sources provided an unexpected result that I hadn't accounted for. Such will happen!

Observed this morning during heavy rain. New street runoff diversion into infiltration basin is not working. 90% of the water is shooting past the inlet and most is captured in the regular drain downslope. The only water in the infiltration basin appears to be from direct rainfall or runoff from the banks (which are eroding)

Please note that this east end of Kilburn has neither a stop line nor a stop sign. Also, visibility for drivers is limited by unregulated on-street/green belt/right of way parking. - Volunteer: I want to volunteer!
Rec'd email: Subject: Outdoor Classrooms and COVID
As teachers and parents are trying to figure out how to return to school, I’ve heard a lot of talk of outdoor classrooms.
The Sustainability Academy has one that is used year round, and I know that it was an all-hands-on-deck kind of effort to get it done. I was wondering if the city, parks and rec, the schools, and local companies could band together to get them built at all of the schools?
I work for a nonprofit that gets calls from companies wanting to volunteer all the time, and I can imagine them wanting to donate to make it happen too. I can really see the community rallying around this.
SA does use their outdoor classrooms year round and in all weather and are a great model to follow.
Of course, I’d be happy to help and I know other parents would as well.
Thanks for all your doing during this wild time!

- On street parking violations
JR's Corner Store uses Rose street for their delivery vehicles which will do one/many of the following:
-Park on the wrong side of the road
-Block residential driveways
-Block crosswalk on corner of North & Rose
-Block access to the south end of Rose Street
This only happens during delivery days, so showing up to inspect at any given moment will most likely result in zero parking violation sightings. Some kind of official notice to JR's is required.

Random Burlingtonian Quote of the Day 📝
[I]t appears that mankind in this life are not agents of trial for eternity, but that they will eternally remain agents of trial! To suppose that our eternal circumstances will be unalterably fixed in happiness or misery, in consequence of the agency or transactions of this temporary life, is inconsistent with the moral government of God, and the progressive and retrospective knowledge of the human mind. God has not put it into our power to plunge ourselves into eternal woe and perdition; human liberty is not so extensive, for the term of human life bears no proportion to eternity succeeding it; so that there could be no proportion between a momentary agency, (which is liberty of action,) or probation, and any supposed eternal consequences of happiness or misery resulting from it.
