Sometimes this strange new world we live in hits hard. One of my best friends turned 40 and we could not celebrate with her. We left her treats on the porch and a candle to blow out while we yelled through door. She left us art supplies/wine. #btv #vt #vermontstrong #coronavirus https://t.co/UOe6DhTi3V

One metric I track regularly (which is provided by our mailing list provider, MailChimp) is the percentage of BTV Daily subscribers that open a given newsletter. This percentage early in 2020 hovered around 40%. In the last couple of weeks it's hovered around 50%. I wish I could say it was because BTV Daily is somehow more attractive or acquiring readers that are more in-line with appreciating it, but it much more likely has to do with the virus.

- Transportation and Parking Improvement Request
The stairwell and ramp here are inadequate. People with bikes may not be able to carry the bike up the stairs as seen here with a large cargo bike. Also going up and down the ramp obstructs it for other users and in some cases a large bike like show is very hard to navigate the 180 degree turn on the ramp. This is a major entrance/exit to the greenway/waterfront as well as businesses. Please make the staircase wider and add a "wheeling ramp" to allow people with bikes to easily roll the bicycle up. Otherwise users with kids might be force to ride in the road in Lake Street which has no bike facilities.

Random Burlingtonian Quote of the Day 📝
A philosophy has no private store of knowledge or methods for attaining truth, so it has no private access to good. As it accepts knowledge and principles from those competent in science and inquiry, it accepts the goods that are diffused in human experience. It has no Mosaic or Pauline authority of revelation entrusted to it. But it has the authority of intelligence, of criticism of these common and natural goods.
