Report for January 2020

It is hard to believe that we are well into January 2020. It is my prayer that God blessed each of you as you celebrated the Christmas season and crossed the threshold of a New Year.

Since my last update, God has allowed me to present the ministry of Spiritual Leadership Asia in several churches. I am grateful for pastors and churches that have a heart for the work that God has called me to do. As I share the tremendous need in the 10/40 Window, it is exciting to see people capture the vision.

My final air travel trip of 2019 was to southern California. I needed to spend some time with Dr. Chappell regarding the development and ongoing ministry of Spiritual Leadership Asia. While I am not an employee or a member of Lancaster Baptist Church, Dr. Chappell is the founder of SLC-Asia, and I am working in collaboration with him and Niranjan Sundararaj to develop this side of the ministry. I was grateful that Dr. Chappell and I had a productive time discussing this ministry and the coming Spiritual Leadership Conference of Asia. During this trip, I was able to present the ministry at Montecito Baptist Church in Ontario, California, where Dr. Ezequiel Salazar is the pastor, and I also was able to preach at Lancaster Baptist Church.

Finishing the Year

It was a blessing to be back in Cleveland for the final three Sundays of 2019. It had been nearly seven months since I had been home for an entire Sunday. It was wonderful to celebrate the Christmas season with my home church and our family. We enjoyed some great moments with our children and grandchildren and some other extended family members.

I was asked by my son and pastor, Peter Folger, to preach to the Cleveland Baptist Church family the final Sunday of 2019. At first it seemed odd to step again behind the pulpit, but this time it was not as the pastor but as a guest. God gave us a wonderful Sunday. During the evening service, I was able to give a thorough presentation of the ministry of Spiritual Leadership Asia for our church. As a part of their Christmas offering, Cleveland Baptist raised $10,000 to sponsor pastors to attend the Spiritual Leadership Conference of Asia. I was able to thank them for their generosity.

I want to thank many of you that have also had a part in giving offerings for this important meeting. Only eternity will reveal what God will do through your faithfulness and generosity.

The New Year

The Lord has given me the opportunity to preach and present this ministry each week since the beginning of January. What a blessing that these first few meetings of this year have been within driving distance of my home. It has enabled me to be in my home office and to spend some time planning and preparing for this year of ministry.

I am now beginning a busy season of travel and ministry. I would appreciate your prayers that God would use me to be a help and encouragement to pastors and churches. I don’t want to be someone that is just asking for help, but I desire to be a help. I believe with my years of experience that God can use me to encourage pastors and churches in my travels.

Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia

We are now just a little over a month away from the great bi-annual SLC-Asia meeting. The dates are March 9-12 in Manila, Philippines. Please add this critical meeting to your prayer list. What takes place at this meeting has much to do with God’s light being brought to the 10/40 Window. There are final issues that are being dealt with, and we need God to bring it all together. We can plan and prepare but the greatest preparation is to bathe this ministry and meeting in prayer. It can’t be overemphasized, that God’s power and blessing on this meeting is critical. Please pray for Dr. Chappell, Niranjan, me, and all those that are coming to speak at the conference. Pray for the missionaries, national pastors, and various churches that are also coming to participate in this conference.

Thank You

Since my last update, God has given me several new supporting churches. I want to thank those pastors and churches that are a part of our financial and prayer support team. Your monthly support enables me to stay on the road and do this work. It would be impossible without it.
