The last couple of months have flown by as we are establishing this needed ministry. With the Lord's enabling, I have been able to travel several thousand miles and preach and present the ministry of Spiritual Leadership Asia in many new churches
God has blessed in allowing me to be in meetings in California, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut during the months of August and September. God has allowed me to preach dozens of times and present the work of SL-Asia. Folks have come to understand the vastness of harvest and great need to make a difference. As Matthew 9:37 states "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few." We are being obedient to the command in verse 38, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."
It is always exciting when folks will speak to me after a service and say, "Wow, I have heard of the '10/40 window', but I never really knew what it meant. Now, I understand, and I promise that I will be praying for the work that needs to be done there!"
The greater blessing is seeing young folks surrender their lives to serve the Lord as missionaries. That has happened in a few of our meetings recently. In two different meetings in Texas, the Lord dealt in the heart of two young men, and they surrendered their lives to be missionaries.
My wife, Denise, isn't able to travel with me to all of our meetings. Health issues, as well as my mother living with us, keep her at home during my extended travels. However, when I am doing a Sunday within driving distance or perhaps a ministry is able to fly us in for a weekend, she is able to go. It is always a blessing to have her with me on these trips.
Our personal support continues to climb. I am grateful for churches that see the need of supporting me in this new ministry. I believe I am close to the 50% level of support needed to do this work. There are a few churches that have indicated that they will do something, and others that have promised us that I will be taken on for regular support. I am trusting the Lord to raise the rest of my support by the end of this year.
Cleveland Baptist Church is handling my financial support. Please make checks payable to CBC, and send them to 4431 Tiedeman Rd. Brooklyn, OH 44144. Memo: Kevin Folger support
Most of you are aware of the Spiritual Leadership Conference of Asia that is planned for next March in the Philippines. The need to secure my hotel and air travel was important and was looming. Recently, I had a meeting with a man I led to Christ several years ago, when I was the pastor of Cleveland Baptist Church. This man is a man of means and he asked me specifically how he could help me. I mentioned that I needed to raise money for two things: my trip to Manila and the shipping of a container of Scriptures and Tracts to be sent to this meeting in the Philippines from Bearing Precious Seed in Milford, OH. He asked me how much it would cost to cover these two projects, when I answered, he picked up his phone and told his secretary to send a check to the Cleveland Baptist Church to cover these needs. It is such a source of encouragement, to see God supply our every need!
Another blessing happened when I was preaching a missions' conference at Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX for pastor Tyler Gillit. In this conference I met a younger missionary couple, Eustace and Tracie Kariuki, going to Kenya. When I heard Eustace share his testimony, I was thrilled to know that he had been led to Christ by a missionary that Cleveland Baptist supported to Kenya, when I was the pastor. This missionary led Eustace to Christ when he was just 11yrs old and living in a village in Kenya. The support of Cleveland Baptist Church and other like minded churches sent this missionary to that village. I was able to see the fruit of this investment. I am sure when we get to heaven, we will spend some time meeting people that are in that great city, who were led to Christ by missionaries and preachers that we supported.
