We're closing out with the last event of the 2021-2022 school year this Sunday, when the band appears in the Ride of the Patriots!

For those who don't know, the Ride of the Patriots is an annual display of solidarity and support to bring attention to the needs of service members who have sacrificed for our country. The event began in the aftermath of 9/11, as our soldiers selflessly defended America's safety and interests domestically and abroad. One overlooked consequence of these actions was the impact that stayed with veterans after their tours ended. Ride of the Patriots served to draw attention to the needs and issues facing our military service members. There was one catch: the event needed to be a parade, and without a band to participate, the event would not be approved.

Twenty years ago, the band responded to the call, and since, the Ride of Patriots has grown to be the kickstarting event for Rolling Thunder, which is now known as Rolling to Remember. The event has helped garner support for military veterans, POW's, MIA's, KIA's, and their families. In the years since, our society has come together to make sure that those ready to sacrifice all have the support they need when their tour of duty has ended.

Ride of the Patriots has been dormant for the last two years, like many things in our society. As we gain distance from the tragedy of 9/11, it is important for students of today to have a chance to directly see the impact the band can have and has had on our society at large.

It may be an early report time, but it will help dodge the heat, and the event will be quick. I am so proud of our band's 20-year connection to an event that has helped make an indelible mark on society, and directly benefitted the lives of those for whom the holiday exists.

Each year, Patriot Harley-Davidson invites the Band Boosters to sell water to thirsty bikers during the open house event. This year, the open house will be from 10:00am until 5:00pm on Saturday, May 28.

In lieu of actual donations of water and ice, please Venmo your contribution to @Glenn-Cavert and flats of water will be picked up from Costco on Thursday and delivered to Patriot HD ahead of time.
