CDIA is an ADB-managed Trust Fund that works closely with secondary cities in Asia and the Pacific to address gaps in infrastructure development and financing. 

It uses a demand-driven approach to support infrastructure projects that emphasize poverty reduction, environmental improvement, climate change mitigation and/or adaptation, and good governance.
 

Announcing CDIA's Virtual Clinics: Helping Cities Develop Bankable Infrastructure Projects

Cities are still adapting to the new context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and this makes preparing urban infrastructure projects more challenging than ever.

CDIA has taken steps to further help cities during these unprecedented times, with a new series ofVirtual Clinics.” The clinics aim to help city managers develop climate-focused infrastructure projects in line with funder priorities.

CDIA Training Workshop Offers Insights on Developing Climate-Resilient Infrastructure in Vietnam
CDIA delivered a training workshop on climate resilience to 41 officials representing various provincial and city-level government agencies in Bac Kan and Ha Nam, Vietnam.

The one-day training workshop, held on 1 and 8 April 2021, enabled the stakeholders to gain a better understanding of climate resilience concepts and the practical steps they can take to build their resilience against climate change impacts.

Yerevan City Revs Up Efforts to Improve Public Transport
Yerevan Municipality has intensified efforts to provide an efficient and more environment-friendly public transport for its one million residents in Armenia’s capital.

It came about as CDIA officially started a project preparation study (PPS) on 3 March 2021 to support the government in its bid to shift to a more sustainable mobility.

Urban Livability Project in Tbilisi Starts, Aims to Bring the Metro System Closer to People
CDIA kicked off its PPS on 16 March 2021 in Tbilisi City to develop a roadmap of investments that will provide universal access and enable inclusive mobility for the passengers of Tbilisi Metro in Georgia's capital.

The PPS is under cover of "Georgia Livable Cities Investment Program" supported by ADB.

CDIA Reports July-December 2020 Accomplishments

CDIA released its Six Monthly Progress Report on 24 March 2021, highlighting its work with Asia-Pacific cities in the second half of 2020.

The report details CDIA’s progress against performance indicators, the status of utilization of program resources and the contribution of its completed PPSs to development impacts and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Millions of commuters are now benefiting from the new transport projects that CDIA helped plan in Peshawar, Pakistan; Tbilisi, Georgia; and Kochi, India.

CDIA and PT SMI Hold Series of Knowledge Sharing Sessions on Infrastructure Project Development
CDIA has collaborated with PT SMI in Indonesia to deliver a comprehensive capacity development program aimed at enhancing the project development and fund management capabilities of officials and staff of PT SMI.

The program involves four 2-hour knowledge sharing sessions, which started on 17 March 2021 and will continue until May 2021.

New CDIA Webpage Takes Cities on a Journey Towards Finding Climate Solutions
CDIA launched last month an interactive webpage that provides key information on how cities can build their resilience against climate change. It was developed with support from Agence Française de Développement and the European Union.

Visitors to the page will follow a cyclist as she journeys through some climate change impacts and the infrastructure solutions that cities can implement.
