Good bye summer!

Finally I've got my MBP fixed, so everything is back to normal. This means that I had more time (and proper equipment) to write new posts and to polish some really old ones... I mean.... all of them. Now every single article is mostly updated, I'm still trying to modernize some legacy stuff to Swift 5, but I need some extra time to finish it.

Anyway, more about this later on, let's see the new articles:

Picking and playing videos in Swift

Learn how to record or select a video file using a video picker controller and the AVPlayer class, written entirely in Swift 5.

What's new in Vapor 4?

Vapor is the most popular server side Swift web application framework. This time we'll cover what's new in Vapor 4.

URLSession and the Combine framework

Learn how to make HTTP requests and parse the response using the brand new Combine framework with foundation networking.

Updated blog posts & tutorials

Every single article on The.Swift.Dev is now updated, plus there is a tutorials repository on GitHub containing all the sample codes that I was using in the blog posts. Feel free to browse through the brand new "old stuff"!

The Swift Community - August

Paul Hudson is working on something! It's 100% that it's going to be related to Swift and it's probably gona be amazing. Can't wait to see...

I just discovered a blog this month called "Yet Another Swift Blog" by Vadim Bulavin. I highly recommend checking his work, he has some super useful articles I'll definitely keep an eye on him!

The future of The.Swift.Dev.

As you can see I'm trying to give a fresh look & feel to my site. I have a long term strategy with brand new content, sample code and more. I'd be nice to reach even more people and to be able to create a series of tutorials about a really nice app building methodology in Swift that works in 90% of the time...

More and more people are contacting me that my blog is amazing and this really means a lot to me, but honestly I don't have the resources to maintain multiple channels that's why I removed my discord server. I'm not a big fan of social media platforms (this was the reason why I deleted my twitter account in the past with ~600 really amazing followers), but yeah still I'm again on twitter you can follow me (shame on me), althoguh sometimes it's just way more easy to drop me an old-school email (I'll definitely answer to that).

Anyway, I finally got my work machine back, so let's get back to work... feel free to expect a bunch of new articles in September too! Sneak peak:

Migrating from CocoaPods to Swift Package Manager

Learn how to use Swift Package Manager in Xcode. SPM now supports iOS and more, so it's time to ditch CocoaPods for good.

Thanks for reading, bye!
