Sponsor SB Reads 2020!
The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation is supporting the Santa Barbara Public Library's SB Reads program for the third year running. This year, the Foundation’s goal is to raise funds to support the distribution of the featured book and Library programming that will offer the community a creative outlet during the pandemic.

Your gift will make it possible for the Santa Barbara Public Library to provide free copies of the books to hundreds of members of the community and host an inspiring evening with acclaimed author Elizabeth Gilbert, uniting our community around the power of the written word.

We Open Doors to...Best New Cookbooks
Every month we continue to bring you suggested books to inspire your next read! Recommendations are brought to you by Santa Barbara Public Library librarian Molly Wetta.

Just because we can’t travel and dine like we used to these days, doesn’t mean we can’t have great home cooked meals that make it easier not to miss restaurants. These 2020 cookbooks are great if you’re looking to spice up your dinner or experiment in the kitchen.
The Mosquito Supper Club: Cajun Recipes from a Disappearing Bayou
by Melissa M. Martin

Escape to Louisiana with these modern takes on traditional cajun recipes. This cookbook has easy, step-by-step instructions for those unfamiliar with how to make a roux or shuck an oyster. Martin shares not only the spices of cajun dishes she learned from women, she shares stories of growing up in the bayou.
New World Sourdough
by Bryan Ford

If you missed the sourdough fever this spring, but now can finally get your hands on some yeast and want to learn how to bake amazing loaves, start with this cookbook. Bryan Ford brings his Central American roots to an unfussy approach to sourdough that is perfect for beginners.

Vegetable Kingdom
by Bryant Terry

This is the perfect cookbook for anyone who is looking to expand their repertoire of plant-based recipes. Activist and chef Bryant Terry combines African and Asian inspired flavors in exciting new recipes. If that didn’t sell you, it also includes a great soundtrack.

Leave a Legacy at the Library

Many people contemplate how they can support the Library and ensure its growth and sustainability in the future. Some find that a good way to accomplish this is to designate the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation as the beneficiary of a gift from their estate plan or will.

Note from Lauren Trujillo, Foundation Director
