Superintendent's Corner

Dear Crossroads Supporters,
We are very thankful for your support as we continue to strive to prepare and inspire our students to build a better tomorrow by providing an academically rigorous K-12 education in a creative, collaborative, community-focused environment. I’m continually amazed by the tremendous efforts of administration, teachers, students, parents and everyone involved with the education process.

What a year it has been – so many changes and so much work for our school administration and teachers to provide the best education to our students in a safe environment.  As you know, Real World Learning (RWL) is one of our core values at Crossroads and is the foundation on which our school was built.  All K-12 students participate in RWL throughout the year.  For example, in the younger grades it may be a class service project on a problem in our community (littering, recycling, homelessness, etc.) In middle school it may be career exploration activities so students start to see where their passions and job interests align.  In high school, students have the opportunity to obtain a Market Value Asset (college credit, work experience, industry recognized credential, or entrepreneurial experience).

This is all possible through YOUR support! With our public funding, we are able to provide the basic education classes as required by the state.  But with your support, we are able to provide so much more including our amazing RWL program for our students. Crossroads Charter Schools need the support of our community to be able to continue making learning come alive for our students.

We are excited to launch our capital campaign for the Crossroads Community Center.  We plan to utilize this space for everything from district-wide Real World Learning activities, guest speakers, school pep rallies, dances and sporting events to adult education classes and professional development seminars. The KC community has given so much to Crossroads and we want to give back. This is not just a Crossroads space, this is a true community space.

We are fortunate to have Crossroads Charter Schools as an educational option in KC. Our teachers and administrators have gone above and beyond for our community, especially over the past couple of years. Let’s show our gratitude and support to our school by providing the needed funding for them to continue to provide the best experience for our children.

Donations can be made at any time of the year but those made before the end of 2022 will be eligible for a 2022 tax receipt.  Some people choose to donate monthly, which may work well for your own budget! You may donate online here or mail a check payable to:

District Highlights - Caring for Our Community

Crossroads believes firmly in caring for our community and we put it into action in a variety of ways. Here are just a few of our efforts this school year:
  • Socktober - Sock Drive brought in 322 pairs of socks for our friends at City Union Mission.
  • Unicorn Day is celebrated each year in Nov. in honor of Central Street student Jaelah Rainingbird-Minme who passed from cancer in 2018. We honor her memory by wearing her favorite colors and celebrating inclusivity.
  • In partnership with Harvester's, all three campuses now have a food pantry and care closet available to all CCS families and staff, no questions asked.
  • Michael's Mondays/Wear Purple in Nov. for Epilepsy Awareness Month in honor of beloved CPA student, Michael Jones, Jr. who passed in 2020.

We would like to say thank you to our fabulous donors, volunteers, families, staff and vendors who made our 11th Annual Dreaming Big a success!

To date, we've raised $75,000 which will support incredible programs for our scholars such as Real World Learning opportunities, ACT Prep and dual credit courses for our high school students, STEM and fine arts programming and so much more. These programs make Crossroads Charter Schools a special place for scholars and staff to learn, grow and be an integral part of a diverse and supportive community.

See below for event photos as well as renderings of the new Crossroads Community Center to be located at 9th and Washington.
