Superintendent's Corner
Alumni Spotlight: Gael Castanon
Gael Castanon, Class of 2021, is enrolled at Missouri Western University located in St. Joseph, MO where he is studying general finance.
"Crossroads Prep helped me greatly during COVID. Virtual learning was hard, but my teachers never gave up on me. When we were in-person, I enjoyed how the classes were set up with hands-on learning and how we learned outside of the school building as well.”

100th Day of School - Mon., Jan. 30th: Please keep an eye out for communications from your child's teacher about 100th Day activities which we'll celebrate on Monday!
Attendance Reminders: Attendance is critical for the success of your scholar. Not only will they have continued access to rigorous content, but their presence provides access to practice and skills for social and emotional development as well. A few reminders as we head into the new quarter:
- School begins at 8:30am: Arrival & drop off should happen between 8:20 - 8:30. Students arriving past 8:30 will need to be escorted into the building and be checked into the front office.
- School ends at 4:00pm: Given that students are across the building transitioning at the end of the day, we will not release students to the front office between 3:30 - 4:00. Please keep in mind that early pick up at 3:00 will directly impact your child's attendance percentage and are counted as an absence.
- Attendance should be at 95% & Above: Attendance is crucial for access to content and interventions. Students with an attendance percentage below 80% could be in risk of retention based on academic achievement. Curious about your child's attendance percentage? Check out your report card on January 25th!

General Illness Guidelines
Parents/guardians should keep students home from school if they have a temperature or other symptoms of illness. An ill student will be sent home, and may not return to school, until the student:
-
Has been fever-free for 24 hours without needing to use fever-reducing medications, such as ibuprofen or Tylenol. A fever is defined as an oral temperature above 100.3 degrees.
-
Has been free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for a full 24 hours, or has a doctor’s note indicating the student may return to school prior to the 24 hour time period.
-
Is free of frequent coughing without requiring the use of cough-suppressing medications, such as cough syrup.
-
Is free of lice (live bugs.)
-
Is free of other symptoms of illness that require exclusion from school as directed by the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services.
Students who are present at school with one or more of the above symptoms will be required to be picked up from school by a parent or guardian. Students should be picked up as soon as possible, and no more than 90 minutes after the school contacts the parent/guardian/emergency contact. This helps prevent the spread of any infectious diseases to other students and staff. If the school finds that a student is repeatedly not being picked up within 90 minutes, a meeting will be scheduled between the guardians, School Nurse, and administration.
COVID-19 and Other Specific Diseases
Please note that the above requirements are our guidelines for illnesses in general. It may be that if your child receives a specific diagnosis, such as Strep, COVID-19, Flu, etc., they will have to remain out of school for a longer period of time. If your child is diagnosed with a specific contagious illness, please alert your school nurse so they can provide guidance on when your child may be able to return to school.
