Revised NSF Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support Formats
NSF implemented revised versions of the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support formats for consistency with the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 23-1). The requirement to use the revised formats is effective for proposals submitted or due on or after January 30, 2023.
These revised formats are now available in SciENcv and on the NSF Policy Office website. Should Multiple DMS Plans Be Submitted With Each Application?
No. The Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy expects only one DMS Plan to be submitted with each application and does not expect separate Plans to be developed for individual projects under that application. In multicomponent applications, the DMS Plan must be in included in the Overall component. Applicants are encouraged to determine whether and how to coordinate responsibilities with respect to Plans with all PD/PIs and all Key Personnel on the same application. For more information, refer to the full NIH post.
Does the DMS Policy Apply To Training Activities?
No. The Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy does not apply to awards for Training Programs (e.g., Ts, D43) and Fellowship Programs (Fs); however, Research Career Programs (Ks) are subject to the DMS Policy. While Training and Fellowship Programs are not subject to the DMS Policy, NIH encourages trainees and fellows to consider integrating data management and sharing practices into their activities if appropriate. Please see a complete list of NIH activity codes subject to the DMS Policy. For more information, refer to the full NIH post.
DMS Plan Tip: Leave the Hypertext at Home
As you develop your Data Management and Sharing Plans, make sure you do not include hypertext (e.g., hyperlinks and URLs) in the DMS Plan attachment. NIH's hyperlink policy applies to DMS Plans as well, and NIH may withdraw your application from consideration if you include them. For more information, refer to the full NIH post.
