2021 YEAR IN REVIEW
The Advanced Air Mobility industry in Utah had an incredible year in 2021. Several Utah-based companies saw historic milestones and growth. Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a partnership with Fortem Technologies to evaluate an airspace monitoring system for border security missions. Teal Drones became the flagship portfolio company of Red Cat Holdings in an all-stock acquisition deal and opened a new manufacturing facility, propelling the company to the next level.

At the end of August, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) offered a well-attended two-day, national peer exchange focused on the integration of innovative transportation technologies, with subject-matter experts across the country speaking about the potential utilization of innovative technologies such as Connected Automated Vehicles (CAV), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in future transportation systems.

Near the end of 2021, Intermountain Healthcare (IHC) announced a landmark drone-delivery service with Zipline to fly medical supplies and home care equipment to hundreds of patient’s homes each day in Utah. Companies like Robotic Skies built Utah headquarters and programs such as the Aggie Drone Academy held activity days to inspire the next generation of drone pilots and industry leaders.

Take a look back at some of the highlights in newsletters from throughout 2021 posted on our website below.
