It's no secret that it has been a long, hot and dry summer in Utah. The weekly drought reports issued by the Utah Department of Natural Resources explain the crisis currently facing the state's reservoirs during the historic drought. It's hard to believe it until you see it.
In July, a drought report showed that the capacity for the state's major reservoirs was at just 59%. According to the report, 26 of the 42 largest reservoirs were below 55% of capacity. Watch as local news station Fox 13 captures visual drone footage to show what this looks like and how dire the situation really is.
DRONE ATTACKS: LOCAL OP-ED ON INTERNATIONAL THREATS
There have been over 25 reported rocket and drone attacks in 2021 so far, with the latest including an attack on an Iraqi base housing U.S. troops. This particular strike was a part of a string of attacks on facilities in Iraq and Syria housing U.S. soldiers. This and many other examples show a clear threat to U.S. troops overseas.
Fortem Technologies, a Utah-based defense contractor, has been working with the Department of Defense to address these threats by developing a system to capture dangerous drones and securely bring them to the ground. Read this op-ed by Fortem Tech CEO Timothy Bean to learn more about their SkyDome System and how it can help overseas.
