EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE

With the help of our internationally recognized planning firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, we recently kicked off our master planning efforts. During the past month we have conducted site evaluations, market studies, traffic modeling and other analyses to inform the development of three concepts for our framework master plan

In addition, we have engaged our subject-matter experts who currently serve on our five working groups and assembled a stakeholder advisory committee to represent broader perspectives from the general public. In the coming weeks, the three master plan concepts for the site will be released. These concepts will articulate various approaches to future development and the tradeoffs and benefits associated with them.

The Point master plan will provide a critical framework for future site development so we encourage active participation in the process. In the coming weeks, we will release a survey to solicit public input and host a virtual open house. We welcome your participation to help make The Point.

STAKEHOLDER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

We are pleased to announce the members of our newly formed stakeholder advisory committee. Among this diverse group of influential stakeholders are leaders of community organizations, nonprofits, universities and local governments. Our stakeholder advisory committee will provide important input into The Point master plan. Committee meetings are scheduled for Thursday, March 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, April 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. To watch the meetings streamed live, tune in to The Point's YouTube channel.

WHAT'S THE POINT?

The 600 acres of state-owned property at the current site of the Utah State Prison in Draper is known as “The Point.” The site represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create an iconic Utah development that advances innovation, catalyzes robust economic growth, provides parks and regional trail connections, demonstrates sustainable practices and protects the environment.

The site is centrally located in the heart of Utah’s fast-growing technology sector and between Utah’s two most populous counties. It is well served by vital infrastructure and surrounded by more than 20,000 acres of undeveloped land in area communities. It is easily accessible via high-capacity roadways and planned future transit service.
