TRAVEL UTAH BY FLYING CAR
Electric Power Systems newly built headquarters in North Logan, Utah.
If you're interested in flying cars in Utah, you won't want to miss this podcast! Pete Codella, managing director of business services for the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, recently sat down with Nathan Millicam, co-founder and CEO of Electric Power (EP) Systems, to discuss the company's newly announced partnerships with SkyDrive and Supernal. The companies are leaders in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry and together, they are leading the way on innovative technologies that will revolutionize how Utahns get around.

Millecam recounts what led him to found EP Systems, the company’s successes and failures, and what it’s like to work with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He defines the term “certifiable system” and why the system is the North Star that guides everything safety-related in the aviation industry. Millecam also explains what led him to establish the company’s roots in North Logan, Utah, and the exciting clients they have worked with so far.

DRONEUP JOINS AAM TASKFORCE

The Utah Division of Aeronautics has announced that DroneUp is joining the Utah Advanced Air Mobility Working Group to help advise on Uncrewed Traffic Management (UTM). Composed of state and local policymakers, private-sector industry experts and representatives from non-profit organizations, the Utah Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Working Group has met regularly over the past several months to study the development and implementation of a future AAM system in Utah.

“DroneUp’s extensive experience in enterprise services, delivery services, and UTM airspace solutions will bring AAM-related insights about drone service provider operations that will help us meet the challenges of air traffic management. This is hugely important to us as we seek to make Utah an industry pioneer by capturing the operational, societal, and economic benefits of unmanned aircraft systems,” said Utah Aeronautics Director Jared Esselman, A.A.E.

You are invited to participate in a workshop series to explore the future of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) in Utah. The purpose of the workshops is to identify and create a shared community planning process to identify feasible vertiport locations across Utah.

The workshops are being led by Dr. Brent Chamberlain, professor at the USU Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, and supported by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), the Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC), and Flight Level Engineering.

At the end of the workshop series, the research team will create a first-ever guidebook, including mapping data, to help inform key decision makers regarding vertiport-related land use planning and implementation.
