EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE
Last month's virtual open house was a tremendous success. With the public feedback received, the planning team is working to refine and optimize the elements of our preliminary master plan concepts into a preferred alternative.
We are now at the midpoint of our master planning process. At this critical juncture, we will again turn to the public for help to Plan the Point! In the coming weeks, we will hold another virtual open house and release a statewide survey to gather public input on refinements to the preferred alternative.
We welcome your participation in this important endeavor and look forward to hearing from you soon.

The Point of the Mountain State Land Authority is proactively planning for the future of the site by creating a framework master plan. The plan will provide direction for future site use, while allowing for flexibility to respond to changing conditions. Planners have released three preliminary concepts that illustrate different potential approaches to future development. Various elements of each concept will be incorporated into the next phase of the planning process.

COMPLETE COMMUNITY CONCEPT
This concept illustrates an approach to growth that provides a gathering place with amenities used primarily by residents in surrounding communities.
This concept utilizes shared open space to connect six potential neighborhoods at The Point, enhancing connections to surrounding communities. Each sub district is organized around a central open space to form a community hub with more intense uses. The balance of land uses is mixed evenly between residential and office, all connected by a pedestrian grid that links the central open spaces together in a car-free network.
This concept illustrates a regional approach to new growth that provides opportunities for Utahns to live, work and play.
This concept incorporates development along larger greenspaces that serve as a community amenity, providing public amenities not available in the surrounding area. These amenities include larger parks, restaurants, entertainment, cultural venues, and more to create a meaningful connection to the adjacent Jordan River corridor. The concept also includes a linear greenspace that connects the Jordan River to Wasatch foothills, east-west across the site. Land use is balanced between office and residential, but incorporates an institutional anchor and other more intense uses paired proportionally with each open space area.
ECONOMIC CATALYST CONCEPT
This concept illustrates an approach that catalyzes economic growth and job creation at The Point.
This concept is more heavily weighted towards office and innovative uses and centers the plan with a new park. This concept provides options for biking, walking and transit. It brings together retail, office, residential and hotel uses for a vibrant central space. The institutional anchor in this concept is centered around parts of the former prison that have been preserved to connect the site’s past with its future.
