Here is the most recent newsletter from our Ward 3 Councillors: https://mailchi.mp/a9e38fe548e8/ward-3-newsletter-september-2019 This issue highlights information on the new "Project Safe Start for Schools", progress on our Community Centre in Ward 3, Midtown development, Gairloch shoreline restoration, Open Doors Halton and several local walks for great causes. Also a subscription link to receive future newsletters directly.
School safety message from our Councillors is fully endorsed by the COCA Board: “Not a week goes by without a request for speed surveys and traffic calming. With school starting next week we cannot emphasize enough: Use only the approved school drop off zones, slow down and that includes parents rushing to get the students to school, do not do U turns by schools, encourage walking and cycling buddies. We all want to ensure safe arrival to and from school.” Dave Gittings & Janet Haslett-Theall
Children under 11 can ride bikes on Clearview sidewalks with an adult companion
Town of Oakville sidewalk cycling rules: “Cycling on town sidewalks is prohibited, except for children under the age of 11 years old, with wheel diameters that do not exceed 51 centimetres or 20 inches. A parent, guardian or other adult may also ride a bicycle on the sidewalk while accompanying the child. Every rider of a bicycle, when approaching a pedestrian on a sidewalk, shall give adequate warning of their approach and shall take every necessary precaution to avoid a collision and shall give pedestrians the right-of-way. Furthermore, cycling on sidewalks in downtown Oakville, Kerr or Bronte business districts is prohibited.” More cycling safety info: https://www.oakville.ca/residents/cycling-safety.html
